Scorer: K Vairavan | Commentator: Srinidhi Ramanujam
That's it from us today. Hope you all enjoyed our coverage. Tune into the second game of the day here between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.
I am Srinidhi Ramanujam signing off on behalf of Sidharth Monga and K Vairavan. Stay hydrated, and take care.
Prerak Mankad: "It was the most important game. Score doesn't matter to me. I wasn't happy when I reached 50 because I couldn't connect well. After that I was able to. I was trying to hit against the spinners and couldn't connect. I have played against Mayank in the domestic circuit and I knew he would try to get me out. So I took my chance. I thank the management for the opportunity. I have played a few innings in the top four. so I know how to play and I just backed my ability. Stoinis gave me some wise advice at the end and it helped me."
Krunal Pandya, the LSG captain: "I guess the way SRH were going it would be 200. We pulled it back, especially at the death. I saw character in Avesh and Yash. It was a good total. We had to bat well, still I would have taken 175. What we need as an individual and team is belief. Pooran can do wonderful things. We know that. [About message to batters during the break] It was nothing special. It just that we had to go after bowlers. Abhishek conceding 5 sixes changed the momentum. Really happy for Prerak. It will boost his confidence."
Nicolas Pooran: "We spoke at the break, we felt we needed sixes to win the game. Once a spinner came in, we targeted him. Happy to walk in and hit sixes anytime. It's important to target a sixth bowler. T20 is a batsmen's game, and it is important to take risks. He [Abhishek] is a part-timer for a reason.
"I have played international cricket, I know how to bat in different situations. I just put myself in and executed my skills. In T20 cricket, I prefer a longer time. "
Aiden Markam, the SRH captain: "Thought it was a decent score. lacked one big partnership. Wicket played well, slowed down at the end. [To Abhishek] The message was to bowl into the wicket. Pressure is a different thing. When you are put under pressure by big guys like Stoinis and Pooran, you will be tested. [On why he didn't bowl] Glenn did his job, I don't think I was the man for the job [to bowl].
"It's about playing good cricket in the next three matches and you don't know, it might be enough for us if we win big, I haven't done the math yet [for the playoffs]."
7.13pm: Two crucial points for LSG and they have moved to the fourth position in the points table. For a majority of the game, SRH looked like they had this game in control after putting up 182 on board. When the equation was 94 off 42, Stoinis, Mankad and Pooran changed gears to take the team home with four balls to spare. Unbelievable hitting from Pooran is who remains unbeaten on 44 off 13 balls. Prerak Mankad top-scored with an unbeaten 64 off 45 and was supported by Stoinis' 40 off 25. Abhishek's 31-run over was indeed game-changing.
4 runs off 6 balls. Should be a cakewalk for LSG with Pooran on strike. Fourth wicket stand is 52* off 21
And who has faced the most dot balls before getting off the mark in an IPL chase?
SRH batter wasn't happy with the on-field decision for the full toss being overturned, saying, "Not great umpiring"
Time and again, he has finished games from improbable situations that required him to go hell for leather from the outset
With just eight points from 11 matches, Sunrisers are all but out of contention to make the playoffs
Pooran and Stoinis hit Abhishek Sharma for five sixes in the 16th over to turn it around for Super Giants in their 183 chase
