11.25 pm Lucknow put an exclamation point on this match from start to finish. Kyle Mayers with his uproarious 73 before Mark Wood cements victory with a five-for.

Delhi Capitals captain David Warner: "It was a bit of a challenge. We had some early momentum with the fast bowlers. They bowled very well in the Powerplay. Nobody means to drop catches and a little bit of momentum shifted there but you can't take it away from the Lucknow team. They batted very well there on a wicket that I thought 170 was par. They did an exceptional job. It's a big thing, momentum in this game. We talk about building partnerships but you can't take it away from Wood. He's an exceptional bowler and he showed his true talent and experience tonight. I felt like you were bowling on two different surfaces from either end. For us it's about going back to the drawing board. For us it's one game. We go back to Delhi in front of our home crowd."

LSG allrounder Marcus Stoinis: "What a brilliant start for us. With our big boys firing, Woody bowling 160 kph and Dappa [Mayers] hitting them 160 meters. So it's a nice feeling. It's only one game but it's a nice start. It was absolutely soaking [in the outfield with dew]. We do practice under lights and do the fielding out here. There's not much you can do. It's quite a sandy surface so the spikes dig through. There's not many answers other than accepting it and practice really. The pitch looked a little different on each end of the wicket. One end seemed to spin a bit more. Dappa at the start gave himself enough balls to see what was happening before exploding. Nicky Pooran batted beautifully and Ayush Badoni as well."

LSG captain KL Rahul: "We were clueless about the pitch. It was a nice way to start and will take a lot of confidence from this. I felt that we were 25-30 runs above par with the way that Kyle batted and the intent of the other batters getting on with the game and taking on the spinners. There was a bit of dew and we thought the wicket would get easier to bat but our bowlers did really well. The whole group, it was Woody's day today. It's always a dream for a fast bowler. When someone is going well and has those kinds of performances, it has a huge impact on the team and on the result of the game. It was Woody's day, he made it count but overall the group put pressure on the batters. It was an important win but we're not gonna make too much of it. We'll take confidence from it but T20 cricket, you need to turn up every day."

Player of the Match is Mark Wood for his 5 for 14: "Last time I was here, I played for CSK and it didn't go quite well. So I wanted to try to make an impact this time and I'm delighted that it's gone well today. I felt good for a little period of time actually. You could see the dew on the grass and it affected me. I fall even at the best of times. I'm just pleased today that I managed to get some rhythm in and take some wickets. We played a practice match and played at night time when it's been like this. But at training, you don't have the intensity that you have during a match. KL tried to keep things simple for me. The plan and preparation, Morne Morkel has been really good with me, just try to do similar with what I do for England. Today I was trying to keep my strides short because it was so wet. I feel at ease doing that charging in and letting it fly."

That's it for today's live coverage. Come back tomorrow for more IPL action. Until then, take care!

Wood to Mukesh Kumar, no run, 144 kph lands full and searing in toward leg stump, but Mukesh is able to keep this out backing away from leg stump with a punch to cover. The match ends with a whimper as LSG march to a 50-run win.

That may have been the final touch to nudge Kyle Mayers off the Player of the Match podium.

Wood to Sakariya, OUT, Wood has a five-for after making the switch to LSG! Length ball outside leg stump, Sakariya tries to heave this over the leg side but is rushed and it flutters up off the splice of the bat to Krunal at short midwicket inside the ring. Simple catch.

Wood to Sakariya, no run, bouncer on leg stump, ducked under to leave alone.

Srinath: "Are there no penalties for slow over rate? Every game has been 4 hrs and the time taken between balls and overs has been inexplicable." Major League Baseball has instituted a pitch clock for this season. 15 seconds between pitches with nobody on base, 20 seconds between pitches with a man on base. They shaved 30 minutes off the average game during spring training when it was first employed before the season officially started on Thursday. Maybe something for cricket admins to think about.

Wood to Sakariya, FOUR, full in the slot on fifth stump, drives this inside out over mid-off to the rope. First boundary conceded by Wood in this match.

Can Wood make it five? If not six wiping out the complete tail?

Wood to Patel, OUT, It's Wood's night for sure! Leg stump half-volley flicked effortlessly but picks out deep square leg. Sub fielder Mankad takes a simple catch at chest height four yards inside the rope. Not as spectacular a delivery as his previous three wicket-taking balls but still effective nonetheless.
