11.28 pm Punjab Kings clinch a heart-pounding 11-run win. Preity Zinta is clapping with delight in the owner's box. Fifth straight game at this ground that the team batting first has won.
Mega Byte: "Say after me - Arshdeep should be on the flight to australia"
CSK captain Jadeja now: "I think we started very well, with the new ball we bowled in good areas, but I thought we gave away 10-15 runs in the last 2-3 overs and we didn't execute our plan very well. I think [Rayudu] was batting brilliantly, but as I said we could have restricted them under 170-175. [On the chase] I think not getting a good start in the first six, we're not putting runs on the board in the first six. So we need to improve on that and come back strong."
Punjab Kings bowler Kagiso Rabada: "In the Powerplay, we were a bit behind the rate, but I must commend Shikhar and Mayank the way they held their nerve, and then the way Shikhar and Bhanu played was just unbelievable. They set the platform for our batters to come in and play freely and then Liam Livingstone came in and hit a few gentle strokes out of the park and that set us up nicely. We got ourselves a winning total and I thought each and every individual in our bowling attack put their hand up. I think Arsh has been the best death bowler in this comp. That's what the stats say. He's a youngster coming in. He's got a lot of drive, a lot of ambition and he's got talent as well. And he's just a good bloke. So it's nice to have him around. I've always bowled at the death as well so I know I'm going to bowl at the death but Arsh has just been magnificent and been leading the way in that discipline. Everyone else knows their role. Spinners bowl when they have to. Rahul is a key spinner for us. Sandeep has a lot of experience and he's come in today and got a wicket in the Powerplay. Rishi coming back and bowling that final over, he put his hand up. It's still a bit nerve-wracking when you're bowling at MS Dhoni and there's not one red shirt in the crowd, only yellow shirts chanting his name. I think it can be a bit nerve-wracking but he held his nerve and came out on top so huge credit to him."
Ramesh: "Culprit for loss was Jadeja. Going for 14 off 14 before the last over. I feel players should know when they have too much responsibility such that it affects their game, and they should know when to appropriately step down." Lots of these comments coming in now. I guess Santner is off the hook after the flood of comments that came in about him during the Powerplay.
Arun Prakash: "Stats may not tell how arshdeep bowled beautifully well in this season. He is short of wickets but he's been too good at death. "
Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal: "It doesn't matter but we'd like to win a few tosses but it's hard when you have to chase the game from the start. [On what the turning point was] I thought Arsh bowled exceedingly well. I must credit him. Throughout the season, he's stood up in tough moments and he's bowled the tough overs. He's always put his hand up and said, 'Gimme the ball! So he's been great for us. Even Rabada was fantastic, to get [Gaikwad] and Rayudu at that time was very crucial. I can't really pinpoint, but I would say these two with the ball really changed the game towards us. Not just as a captain, but as a team you need to be really smart and use the longer side of the boundary. You want the opposition to hit as many runs as possible on the longer side because there's more chances of them getting out so that does make a difference. As a batter, you need to pick the balls that you can really get out there because you know if you mishit or even if they middle it, you may get the result you want."
Player of the Match is... Shikhar Dhawan. Well, it is a batter's game after all... Here's his thoughts: "I always talk about the process. I'm a very process-oriented person and I focus on that a lot, on my fitness, my approach toward the game, on my skills. So I keep focus on those things and I know the result will take care of itself. I felt the wicket was stopping a bit so I gave myself a bit of time before going for big shots. I kept my calm knowing I could score big runs later on as well. Once I get set, I get lots of boundaries as well. I know my strength, so that's what I banked on and it worked my way. Batting first, of course to put pressure on bowlers and hit boundaries but at the same time to keep wickets in hand. We don't want to lose too many wickets in a bunch, that was a conscious effort, but at the same time not going in a shell and being aggressive. We keep that nice balance, play with presence of mind and smartness, not just play with power-hitting but playing with the fields as well. I've become a senior, and I don't feel like it. Time is flying... I give a lot of input to the players, even to the captain as well, what my thought process is and what I think about the game. With the youngsters, I try to tell them how to create a good mindset because what happens as a youngster is you are too harsh on themselves. They think a lot, they overthink and when you overthink, your energy goes down. I was trying to communicate that, how to use law of attraction and think big so you attract big in your life."
That's it from our live coverage today. Come back tomorrow for more IPL action. On behalf of my tag-team commentary partner Karthik Krishnaswamy, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
Rahul Oak: "19.3 was one of the most bizarre deliveries I've ever watched. Also, how amazing is the bottom of that bat if a mishit off it finds deep midwicket? "
Rishi has let the air out of the balloon of the Wankhede crowd with that wicket. Anticlimactic three balls to finish here.
