11:46pm And that is all from us. Good night!
Gill: Feels big, MOTM award in my home ground. It was important to build partnerships. When I was batting 80-90 strike rate the team was doing well. That's when I decided to bat till the end. My whole family was there, even some relatives from the village. It was good to play here. I'm still trying to figure out my game in T20s.
Shubman Gill is the Man of the Match.
Karthik: We live another day. We've been fighting, it's been a hard couple of weeks. [On the angry team talkj] I wasn't happy with the body language. The kind of things I didn't expect from them. I'm not too into the results, just the processes. So I had to let the boys know what I thought. [Sheepishly] I think it's a bit rare. I should be true to myself. If I show that and it gets the best out of them, so be it.
In the last over, we gave ten runs too many. But gotta give credit to Curran. At the end of the day the IPL's beauty is that all team's have good balance and someone is always coming up here and there. It's a big ground but I think we did the small things well. We ran well, we put pressure, so it was good execution from the batsmen.
[Gill] is a terrific player, it was only fair we gave him a run at the top of the order. He'd been looking for it.
Lynn: [On Karthik] Yeah he lost his marbles there! Yeah no, that's DK. we've learnt to live with that over the last couple of weeks. We repsonded well as a group and took some wickets. Didn't hold that of Curran and he got the better of us, but again we were clinical with the bat. It was a good wicket but momentum is important in cricket and we grabbed that with the bat. We knew it was good conditions. Shubman was unbelievable. I'm not much of a cricket watcher to be honest but I'll be glued to the TV tomorrow [for the SRH match]. We can only think of what we can control and that is winning against Mumbai.
Ashwin: Tt's been sort of a par and par-plus score. Generally we've defended scores like this, but it was a good track today. It was one of those things. It can go the other way. We bowled well in the first three overs but Lynny took it away from us. Positives for us with respect to Pooran and Sam. We all know he's [Curran's] got the ability and fight in him.
11:30pm Well, that looked simple. Didn't it? KKR looked beleaguered at the halfway stage, but this is a good lesson for everyone, including myself, in gauging mood from afar. Lynn came out like he'd just remembered his reputation and blew this defence away early for Kings XI. They just couldn't rememeber. And once again this season, Gill made use of his opportunity with a neat little unbeaten knock. The situation now for Punjab: They need to win their next match by 160 runs and hope SRH lose tomorrow by 100 runs. Yeahhhhhh.
The Kings XI Punjab captain said injuries to key personnel and the below-par performances of overseas seamers also held the team back this season
