9:06pm A strange, little innings. KKR lost Gurbaz early in the piece but then roared back in the powerplay, with Rahane and Narine finding the fence regularly. But then, the spin-squeeze began, with Ashwin, Jadeja and Noor all bowling tidy overs. Noor, of course, was the pick of the bunch and showed off his wares towards the end too, finishing with a four-wicket haul. Pathirana, who was expensive in his first three overs, also fought back well to ensure KKR did not cross 180.

Speaking of KKR, they did slow down through the middle but the runs they managed at the start, and those that Russell got towards the end, means they have a very good total on the board, especially on a track that is turning, and given they have two world-class spinners in their ranks. Rahane top-scored with 48 and having seen what is happening in the middle, might feel quietly confident of defending this score and keeping their playoff dreams alive. Join us in a bit for the chase!

Manish Pandey: (On his thoughts about the innings) Maybe ten runs, just from my side (short). I could have gotten two or three big hits. Happy that Russell did his job, and so did Rinku. The wicket is slow, and we have top quality-spinners, and if they can do (their job), we will be good to go. Thought I will stay there for a while and take the team through, hoping we can bowl well and win this game. Our fast bowlers are doing a really good job. The top two spinners are winning us games all the way, and backing our bowlers.

Pathirana to Pandey, 1 run, just six runs off the last over, and that is a terrific comeback by Pathirana! Zipped in very full again, right at the stumps. Pandey cannot get under it despite advancing and cloths it towards mid off. Only a single and KKR will finish with 179!

1
Pathirana to Ramandeep Singh, 1 run, another slower delivery that ends up as a full toss on the stumps. Ramandeep has a swish at it and whips it away towards fine leg

1
Pathirana to Pandey, 1 run, slower low full toss on the thighs. Pandey gets inside the line and helps it down to fine leg. Just a single

1
Pathirana to Ramandeep Singh, 1 run, Dhoni gets a glove to it but cannot hold on! This is a searing leg-stump yorker. Ramandeep gets across his stumps and glances it fine. Dhoni flings out his left mitt and parries it towards deep backward square

1
Pathirana to Pandey, 1 run, zipped into the blockhole on leg stump. Pandey backs away and drills it towards mid off. Ashwin fields it in leisurely fashion and does not even contemplate a shy at the bowler's end

1
Pathirana to Ramandeep Singh, 1 run, very full just outside off. Ramandeep sits deep in his crease and drives it down the ground towards long on

173 on the board already, and KKR are likely to go beyond 180, which will be a very good score on this surface. Pathirana to bowl. Four fielders out on the leg-side fence

Noor Ahmad to Pandey, no run, tossed up full just outside off. Pandey plants his front foot and shanks it back to the bowler. Pandey will be disappointed with that attempt

Noor Ahmad to Pandey, FOUR, splits the field perfectly! A bit of a drag-down on middle and leg and this sits up to be hit. Pandey picks the length early and hammers it between long on and deep mid wicket!

Noor Ahmad to Pandey, 1 wide, darted in full but also down leg. Pandey looks to help it fine with a swat but misses. Dhoni gets his pad in the way, and the umpire calls it a wide

1
Noor Ahmad to Ramandeep Singh, 1 run, googly on a back of a length on the stumps. Ramandeep stays back and taps it gently into the point region to get off the mark

Sreshth tells me Ramandeep was doing push-ups near the boundary line, and he has now come out to bat. Can that extra warm-up help him and KKR?

Noor Ahmad to Singh, OUT, a juggling act on the fence, but Mhatre gets the job done! Short and sliding into the hips. Rinku sits deep in his crease and heaves it towards deep backward square leg. Mhatre gets into a good position right on the fence but loses control of the ball as he tries to catch it first. But he has the awareness to track where the ball goes, and gobbles up the second chance with a nonchalant fling of the right mitt, while also holding his balance and staying away from the boundary cushion. Wicket number four for Noor tonight!

Noor Ahmad to Singh, no run, shortens the length just outside off as Rinku shapes for another reverse. He swipes at thin air this time, with the ball rolling off his body into the on side. Pandey wanted the single and gets sent back

Noor Ahmad to Singh, FOUR, brilliant batting! Fired in full just outside off. Rinku brings out the reverse and nails it over backward point. Clarity of thought, and dexterity in execution!

Noor to bowl the 19th, which seems the right call, given how he has bowled and the spin on offer. But spinners can be lined up at the death, which is what KKR will be aiming to do. Over the wicket to Rinku

Pathirana to Singh, 1 run, oh dear! This is a borderline waist-high full toss outside off. Rinku uses the pace and dabs it down to deep backward point. The umpires are happy with it, and Rinku does not challenge the umpire's call for the second ball in a row

Pathirana to Singh, no run, nails the wide yorker and the ball seems to just sneak inside the tramlines too. Left alone by Rinku and not called a wide. But after some deliberation, Rinku reviews. Rinku is standing in his normal stance, and the replay shows some part of the ball is inside the tramlines. Original call stands, and KKR lose a review!

Pathirana to Singh, FOUR, Rinku begins with a boundary! Juicy full toss on middle and off. Rinku opens his bat face a touch and he steers it past short third!

Pathirana to Pandey, 2 runs, banged into the track on middle and off, Pandey gives himself room and flat-bats it over the bowler's head for a couple of runs

Rinku is the new batter in. At the other end for now, though. Pathirana to Pandey for the start of the 18th

Noor Ahmad to Russell, OUT, Russell swats it flat, but straight to Brevis! Noor breaks through and that is a massive wicket! Another googly, although this is shorter outside off. Russell looks to pummel it over long off but does not get the elevation he wants. The ball gets lost in the lights for a bit but Brevis keeps his eyes on it very well. Swoops down low to complete the catch in the end, and Russell is disconsolate as he walks back. Noor and CSK, meanwhile, cannot control their delight!
