9:15pm Two phases of flourish and CSK have a total to fight with. They score 34 at the death but the Jadeja-Dube partnership really set them up to get there. Numbers say they added 79 off 50. But if you watched it, they struggled to time the ball for a large part of that partnership. They truly stepped on the pedal after the 11th over, the four overs since getting CSK 60. Once Dube fell after fifty, CSK once again lost fizz. Jadeja completed his fifty later but there wasn't much of a flourish towards the end.
Hardik's shuffling of his bowlers will sure get people talking tonight, depending on how this goes for MI hereon. He delayed getting Bumrah into the attack, then gave one-over spells for himself, Boult and Bumrah in the middle. Bowled Ashwani for an over just before the death that went for 24. Will any of those moves come back to haunt MI? Or will their batters hunt this down - remember Rohit Sharma is expected to be the Impact Player - and inflict more misery on CSK? He needn't look beyond what teenaged debutant Mhatre did for CSK to adapt a style of play on this surface. Abhimanyu will be back on the wheel for the start of the chase shortly, don't go too far away
Mitchell Santner: "I like the pitch, it's a decent score on a pretty good wicket. When you bowled into the wicket a litle slower, it spun. If you slowed it up a bit, there was something there. Red soil surface, so enough spin but if you ripped it up, it rushed the batters. Last few games, didn't bowl as much as I should have here. Tried to bowl a bit slower. Adapting a bit fast here and seeing what speeds work. [Dew?] Not much, hopefully it comes in from now. Gonna be a good chase for us."
