The RR fast bowlers started well, with Archer leading the pack. It is a red-soil surface, remember, but the slower ones were quite effective. Gill said at the toss that they expect dew in the second half, will that hamper GT's defence? Find out shortly with Himanshu.
Sai Sudharsan: "The ball was stopping a bit but I felt the wicket was very good to bat on. He started well but we consolidated well and made a few runs in the middle overs. We though the wicket was good and had to push for a good score. Not a lot of dew, so bowlers should have a good day. As a team, we keep wickets in hand and go full-on in the last five overs. That is the idea and I try to do that. I am not trying to be consistent but trying to react well to create more chances than going flat. I faced Nortje last year but [Archer] felt quicker. He got a bit of purchase from tis wicket, so I felt it quicker compared to Nortje. Feel slower one and change of pace is holding on the wicket, so it is a good score."
9:22pm GT have posted a tall total once again after being asked to bat first. Sai Sudharsan helped build a strong base for the assault towards the end of the innings. His partnership with Buttler helped GT recover from Archer's early blow. And once Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh got going, RR were left searching. Tewatia and Rashid helped add the power towards the end. Sai Sudharsan looked set for another century but it wasn't to be.
Over the wicket
Arshad is the new batter, at the non-striker's end. Sandeep for the final over, starts around the wicket. RR have an extra fielder in the ring because of the over-rate penalty
