9:15pm Hardik calls his player together for a huddle before they leave the field. Gives his team a pep-talk before MI march off. This is just the second time a team has scored 200 at the Ekana, and it will take some chasing. Hardik led the way with the ball, picking up his first five-for in T20 cricket. MI were a bit late in realising that the slower ones were more effective on the black-soil surface. Before that, Marsh and Markram enjoyed the pace on and capitalised in the powerplay. Both scored half-centuries, albeit in contrasting styles.
Badoni and Miller chipped in with handy cameos in the middle order, and it seemed LSG's batting clicked despite both Pooran and Pant having off days. MI's spinners had a mixed day - Santner went for his most expensive figures in the IPL while Puthur had economical returns. LSG have Ravi Bishnoi among the subs, will he be their Impact Player? Likely. We shall find out that soon as Ashish comes back on the wheel. Don't go too far away
David Miller: "Feedback we got from the guys was that it was slow with the slower balls. Stuck in the surface, back-of-the-length ball skid through. No dew for now, speed of balls important. [Hardik] is a good bowler, bouncer rises faster than you think. In ODIs, he holds lengths really well. [Using the longer sie] We spoke about it. Ball does travel country miles, but we are going to use our resources. [on 3000 IPL runs] Didn't know that. Chuffed. Playing so many years of the IPL, playing that long, you get stats like this."
This is the first five-for by a captain in the IPL
