Virs: "10 runs with 4 fielders inside the ring was pretty good from Raju under immense pressure. It's a game of margins and it could matter."
9:26pm An innings that lasted almost two hours has yielded 196 runs for the Titans. Buttler, Gill and Sudharsan did most of the heavy lifting, with Sudharsan batting quite deep into the innings and keeping MI at bay from one end. Rutherford played a handy cameo and that, plus the efforts of the top three, mean that GT have a fairly decent total on the board.
MI were, at times, shabby in the field. They dropped a catch and were lackadaisical with their ground-fielding on other occasions. Pandya, returning to the side, was their best bowler and bagged two important wickets. Mujeeb was a little more expensive, but did account for Buttler, which, given the flurry of wickets at the death, might have saved MI 10-15 runs. They will back themselves to chase this down, although GT, with runs on the board, will feel they can make a fist of it too. Join us in a bit for the second innings!
Trent Boult: Another challenge, not too much swing around. The boys stuck at it beautifully, we were targeting (chasing) 200, so half the job done. It is a big ground, different soil. Without giving too many secrets away, the wicket was slower than we thought. To keep them under 200 is a decent job. (On what changed after the powerplay) That (having more fielders out) is a big help (smiles). The powerplay is a different game in itself, then spin comes into it. In parts, we executed really well. We will see now what happens in the second half. (On if there is dew) There is, hopefully that works in our favour.
