9.15pm A below-par performance from RR after their 242 against SRH in the opening game, although that was on a rally flat pitch. And this total of 151 is the lowest total in this IPL, which has been very high scoring already. RR didn't start that badly with 54 for 1 in the powerplay but it was the combined spin squeeze of Moeen and Varun after that who reduced RR to 82 for 5 in just five overs. The spin dup got combined returns of 4 for 40 from eight overs. KKR will be thrilled to have Moeen perform like this with Sunil Narine unwell today but might have a headache too when Narine is back fit. A couple of sixes from Jofra Archer in the end takes RR past 150, but they wanted something around 160 batting coach Vikram Rathour had said. Can their spin duo of Hasaranga (in for Farooqi) and Theekshana make a match out of this? Find out with George Binoy soon...

Varun Chakravarthy: It was a really good wicket for me, it was holding for me not really turning square so I could stick to my lengths. Great to have Moeen because he got to turn up so quickly after we came to know Sunny (Narine) was not well. We couldn't have asked for a better (score to chase), the pitch is not like the Eden pitch where it comes onto the bat, so some smart batting will help. Riyan was looking in great touch when he hit that six off me. That was a little short so I wanted to bowl a little fuller and see what's happening off the pitch.

Goldie: "if RR going to challenge KKR with this target hasranga is the main who needs to deliver here"

Harsh: "Sad to see Venkatesh Iyer transform into a specialist batsman. He was called upon as the potential backup for Hardik Pandya in the Indian side a couple of World T20s back."

Prasanna : "Well done Jofra, now come bang bang with the ball.. " He is warming up, I can tell you. Or did those sixes warm him up?

Johnson to Deshpande, 2 runs, punches the straight delivery back after backing away and they get one after it deflects off Johnson's left hand. Oh, they come back for the second! Excellent running on the last ball

Tushar Deshpande for the final ball

W
Johnson to Archer, OUT, and his off stump goes for a walk! 135.5kmh, excellent line and length to target top of off after pitching on middle, Archer swings across the line but misses this time, and the off stump goes cartwheeling

1
Johnson to Theekshana, 1 run, outside off with pace on, slapped down to mid-off by Theekshana for a quick single. He was gone by light years if Russell had hit the stumps at the bowler's end

1
Johnson to Archer, 1 run, angling away outside off and Archer muscles that down the ground to long-off
19.2
2
Johnson to Archer, 2 runs, muscles that pull along the ground in the same region between long-on and deep midwicket. Two more

Johnson to Archer, SIX, out of the screws! Waist high full toss and Archer was waiting for something like that. Smokes that over wide long-on into the stands

1w
Johnson to Archer, 1 wide, oh, Johnson starts with another wide, this time on the off side to Archer

Johnson to finish off as expected. Archer on strike with Theekshana at the other end. RR would want to face all six and not get bowled out

Gwasela: "Hate to say it but ... this Royals team (and new management) will come dead last this IPL season." Remember, it's a long season though, they have enough time to turn things around

Harshit Rana to Hetmyer, OUT, taken at long-on! Last ball of the over, not many runs of it, he goes down the ground off the length ball and doesn't get the distance he wants. A dolly taken by the tall Raghuvanshi

Harshit Rana to Archer, no run, full ball after the short ball, he drills it back straight and a bit too straight. Rana gets a hand to it and saves a few

6
Harshit Rana to Archer, SIX, upper cut for six first ball! Who saw that coming?! Short and wide, swinging away a little and the fast bowler knows how to use the pace of the ball to time that extremely well over the deep third boundary

A valuable contribution off 33 where it's not that easy to bat. Archer comes out

W
Harshit Rana to Jurel, OUT, chops on off a full toss! The pressure catches up with Jurel after all those dot balls in the last over. He shuffles to off to slog on the leg side and only manages the inside half of the bat off the low full toss

Johnson to Jurel, no run, another dot bal, three in a row. Doesn't get any bat on this one despite going a long way to off to scoop that to leg but the short ball outside off beat him this time

Johnson to Jurel, no run, drills that straight into Hetmyer! Full and outside off, smashes back and Hetmyer has absolutely no time to get out of the way. He is also way outside his crease, lost his balance, so he somehow scrambles back into his crease as Johnson picks the ball up

Johnson to Jurel, no run, another full and wide ball to Jurel, he crunches to cover again but this time straight to Rahane at cover

Johnson to Hetmyer, 1 run, better length now, not too short and wide, and he punches it square for one
17.1
4
Johnson to Hetmyer, FOUR, dropped and goes for four! To be fair to Venky Iyer that was a tough catch and he sprinted to his left from long-off after Hetmyer slapped it down the ground. Iyer even got both hands to it but he didn't land properly at all and put it down. To make it worse for him, it rolls away for dour

Harshit Rana to Jurel, FOUR, crunched through the covers for four! That spoils the over for Rana after conceding just seven off the first five balls. But he ends with a full and wide ball, and the Test batter in Jurel comes out to drive that beautifully all along the carpet, through the covers
