Naman: "Since the pith is slow, RR should pick Tanush instead of Burger. There are 4 left handers in LSG."
"Powell was not required, so we are going to see Burger too along Boult in action against QDK, Pooran and Stoinis," reckons Viraj
Chiru: "Devdutt and Avesh are the exchanged players from these two teams, so must be exciting to see which team benefitted more and who regrets."
Stat from Sampath: Sanju Samson in RR's first match since 2020: 2024 - 82* (52) vs LSG 2023 - 55 (32) vs SRH 2022 - 55 (27) vs SRH 2021 - 119 (63) vs PBKS 2020 - 74 (32) vs CSK
Riyan Parag: The main goal was to take it deep. It was keeping low, then I could go big early and Sanju bhai could take it deep, which it did. Mindset has been simple, to play my game without thinking about anything else, which I did in the domestic circuit too. No. 4 does suit me, Sanga was clear. When I joined them this time, the message was clear, that I'd bat where I did domestically. That gave me the clarity I needed.
5:22pm Samson has led his team from the front in their season opener. It'll allow them to use their Impact Sub with freedom too. He was aided by Jaiswal taking off in the powerplay. That was key as the pitch has been slow and the bounce on the lower side. Batters have had to manufacture power against the spinners. RR chose their match-ups well, going after Yash Thakur in his first over and hitting the spinners when they erred on the fuller side. Samson carried through, Jurel helped ice the finish too. For LSG, Mohsin was decent at the start, Naveen too - he got Buttler cheaply - but Jaiswal took them on. Krunal came in for his dart-the-ball and make-them-hit-to-fielders gig. Bishnoi went for runs when he tried floating it up, looking for wickets. Thakur was better in his second over, as were LSG in the late stages. KL used Badoni well too. 50 off the last five overs seems par. RR have a great score, how will LSG go? Find out with Himanshu.
