When Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane were teeing off at the start, followed by Nitish Rana's knock, few would have imagined KKR to be kept to a score that could have been termed par or under-par, something 165 is in danger of in these conditions. But Mumbai came back strong at the death, courtesy Bumrah striking all big blows. Mumbai should be, as a result, confident of gunning down 166. Will they? Peter Della Penna will be back with the chase!
Let's get some stats out of the way first. Gaurav Sundararaman pings me that it is the fifth time that we have witnessed a triple-wicket maiden in the IPL, second this season following Umran Malik against Punjab Kings. Shiva Jayaraman says that Bumrah's five-fer in 16 balls is the joint-third-fastest in the IPL. Never does ordinary stuff, does Bumrah, ehh?
9:20pm This is the Bumrah everybody knows - four wickets for ten runs with 18 dots! KKR were in cruise mode until his last two overs - that went for only one run in return of three wickets.
Here's Bumrah for a chat: It was a good day. When things are going your way, it's important to stay in the present and not to overdo. I was keeping the bigger dimensions of the ground in mind. Whenever you make an impact for the team - by picking wickets or dots - I am happy. I don't go with a fixed mindset. I train for all situation and I understand that sometimes I have to bowl more at the start and sometimes at the end. So that's the mindset I go with. Southee is a bowler and he expected it, but I felt that was the best option. Good on him that he dug it out. I wanted to use the bouncer more due to the big side boundaries.
