Sunil: "This pitch is just made for Pandya and Stoinis' kind of bowling, they will be LSG bankers this game." ------

9.13pm What a strange innings that was. Strange and exhilarating in parts. This is a grippy pitch where shot-making can be difficult - IF the ball is delivered in the right areas. LSG seemed to read the conditions very well, and showed clear intent to maximise the powerplay, which they did. Then the slowness of the pitch caused a real struggle through the middle overs, particularly for the unfortunate Krunal Pandya. But when the bowling was even slightly off, LSG still had the six-hitting power to take 30 off the 19th over, as Shivam Mavi, who'd been so impressive until then, kept missing his lines and lengths - not by much, but by just enough for Stoinis and Holder to really climb into him. LSG end up with 176, and it feels like a total that will challenge KKR on this pitch.

Southee to Badoni, OUT, great finish from Southee here. Goes back of a length again, but angles the ball away from the right-hander and still finishes inside the tramline. Knew Badoni would be looking to create hitting room. Looks to reach out and slap it away, but fails to connect, and this time they can't get the bye, as Indrajith rolls the ball into the stumps at his end and catches Chameera well short

PVD Chameera run out 0 (3m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Southee to Chameera, 1 bye, back of a length, on pace, over off stump. Looks to flat-bat it through midwicket and misses, and they sneak a quick bye

Dushmantha Chameera. He can hit a long ball too.

Southee to Holder, OUT, hard length again, angling into leg stump, and Holder, clearing his front leg, ends up forced to hit with a diagonal bat. He aims over midwicket, and ends up top-edging to the fielder at fine leg

1
Southee to Badoni, 1 run, back of a length is working for Southee through this over. Another offcutter, finishes around off stump, and the attemped pull ends up as a flat-bat hit to long-off
19.2
1
Southee to Holder, 1 run, back of a length, angling into the body as cramping Holder as he attempts to clear his front leg. Misses the front-foot hoick, and inside-edges into his body

1
Southee to Badoni, 1 run, slower ball, back of a length, turning in towards middle stump, swiped away towards long leg

Southee to finish.

Shivam Mavi to Holder, SIX, five sixes in the over, and Mavi's figures are in tatters. Wow. The last ball is a slot ball outside off, and Holder clears his front leg and drives cleanly to clear the long-off boundary. T20 hitting is at a level now where the smallest errors disappear for six, and through that over, Mavi's radar simply deserted him

6
Shivam Mavi to Holder, SIX, and there, disappearing over the backward square leg boundary, is the ball. Tries to cramp Holder for room, ends up offering a ball at his pads, and he flicks it away effortlessly

Here's Jason Holder.

Shivam Mavi to Stoinis, OUT, Got him, but a few feet either side of that fielder and it may have been four sixes in a row. Looks for the cross-seam legcutter on an off-stumpish line, and it's a length ball with Stoinis deep in his crease. He whips it powerfully and flat, but he ends up picking out the fielder at deep midwicket

Shivam Mavi to Stoinis, SIX, wow, this is sensational hitting from Stoinis. Short offcutter outside off, and he's almost expecting it. The ball only gets up to chest height, or even lower, and he pulls it with immense power, with the turn, over the midwicket boundary
18.2
6
Shivam Mavi to Stoinis, SIX, shot. Now the error is one of length. Looks to bowl a slower yorker outside off, and ends up offering a knee-high full-toss that Stoinis swipes away over deep midwicket
18.1
6
Shivam Mavi to Stoinis, SIX, shot. Stoinis was standing with his back foot on off stump, waiting for anything he could swing over the shorter leg side boundary. Marginal error in line from Mavi, his length offcutter ending up on leg stump, and Stoinis whips it away over the backward square leg boundary

Mavi.

Jashan: "You invented a new type of ball! Pffcutter. Lol. I know it's a typo :)" -- Pfff is the sound it makes as it grips and loses pace off this pitch.

Sumith: "This wicket looks ideal for Stoinis's heavy ball type of bowling."

Russell to Badoni, 1 run, back of a length, angling into leg stump, steps across and tucks it to long leg

2
Russell to Badoni, 2 runs, pffcutter finishing on middle stump, shuffles across and clips through backward square leg. They're checking to see if Badoni completed his first run properly, and it looks tight, but they decide he's okay in the end
