That is all from us tongiht. Capitals relived to make theer first IPL final. And then there were two left standing. Be sure to join us for that. Cheers

Marcus Stoinis, Man of the Match: "Have done it for a couple of seasons so it was nice to get an opportunity to bat at the top. There was a bit of swing early. We had a look at it first, and then we let go. I asked Rashid what the send-off was all about but he told me he didn't say anything. So all fine. This tournament has been hard for everyone with quarantine and missing family etc. I am not sure if I will open in the final. We will speak to Ricky and see what to do. Mumbai are a very good team but I would like to say they are due an off day. See our best cricket should be enough to win so we have to play our best cricket."

Shreyas Iyer: "Amazing. This is the best feeling ever. This has been a rollercoaster. A lot of ups and downs. We have stuck together like a family. A lot of responsibility comes as a captain, and on top of that you have to maintain consistency as a batsman. But I feel I have been getting a lot of support from my coaches and the owners. Really fortunate to have such an amazing team. The emotions keep going high and low. You can't have same set of routines. You have to keep chopping and changing. In the next game too, we have to play freely and maintain our temperament. We were happy with the total. We were going at 10 an over, but Rashid can be lethal so we decided to play him out. We were lacking in our opening partnership, and we needed that rocket start. We thought if Stoinis plays the maximum deliveries, he could give us a push."

Now that you get the time to unpack what has happened, DC did many things right with their attitude, but their bowling is looking very flaky. They have just scraped through here. You can't have two spinners whom you won't bowl against one kind of batsmen. Axar has not bowled out in the two matches he has played against MI> Tonight they didn't bowl Ashwin because of right-hand batsmen, and then had to risk him at the death. It is the skill and experience of the man that he held his own there but a lesser spinner might have lost them the match. And Nortje is looking not that good at the death. And, as Rabada said, he got lucky in that last over. That full toss was about six inches below the waist. Had that been a free hit, the game was well and truly on

Kagiso Rabada: "Today was just my day. I don't think I bowled particularly well in that last over. But there are days when you bowl well with no rewards so I will take that. If we end up winning the tournament, the contest for the purple cap doesn't matter. I am just glad we got over the line today but we will have to be at least as good or better in the final. Delhi had never reached the final so we are glad to take the team there. Now it is all about sealing it off. Hopefully we make it more history in the final game. The IPL final is huge. It is a huge tournament because of the magnitude of the players. The skill level is high. Mumbai are a really good team. We are a young team but we have a lot of talent as well."

David Warner: "First and foremost, no one gave us a chance at the start. Everyone talked of the big three: Mumbai, DC and RCB. So I am really proud of our campaign. Natarajan, Rashid, Manish Pandey have been the positives. That back half in the tournament is how we like to play our cricket. You can't win tournaments if you keep dropping catches and missing chances. I think with the ball and the bat we improved after doing badly but our attitude in the field let us down. Yes there were injuries but you have to work with what you have got. I am proud to get where we are today as no one gave us a chance."

Capitals go through to the final, but this was closer than a 17-run win. A lot of positive cricket from DC in this do-or-die encounter. They pushed Stoinis to the top and Hetmyer to No. 4, and both of them worked out. They also took the gamble of bowling in the dew just so that they could play that free-flowing aggressive cricket at the top. SRH dropped a few catches, were patchy in the field, and when you are a side like SRH with limited resources, you can't afford too much of that. Stoinis continues to be the life juice of DC: gave them the start, then picked two Powerplay wickets, and then got Williamson at the death. Stoinis is carrying a toy figure of The Hulk

Nortje to Sandeep Sharma, no run, backs away, Nortje stays full and straight, and he slips trying to protect his wicket

Nortje to Sandeep Sharma, no run, follows him with a bouncer, and he ducks it
19.4
1
Nortje to Nadeem, 1 run, full and straight, driven to long-on for one

Now they just need to bowl three legal deliveries to go through to their first final

19.3
1
Nortje to Sandeep Sharma, 1 run, he backs away, and Nortje follows him with a low full toss. Just the single to midwicket
19.2
1
Nortje to Nadeem, 1 run, yorker, nails it, just the single
19.1
1
Nortje to Sandeep Sharma, 1 run, makes room, hits hard, but can't get under a full ball. Just the single

Nortje to bowl the last over. DC are practically in their first final now

Rabada to Nadeem, no run, shuffles across to look to ramp but is beaten by a full ball

Sandeep Sharma is in. He has had a great tournament with the ball

18.5
W
Rabada to Goswami, OUT, and he has three wickets in three legal balls. Slower short ball again, Goswami looks to pull over midwicket but doesn't get any power into the shot. Caught at deep midwicket

SP Goswami c Stoinis b Rabada 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0

1w
Rabada to Goswami, 1 wide, slower short ball, too high, called a wide

Two batsmen in the middle yet to face a ball. And 23 required off eight

18.4
W
Rabada to Rashid Khan, OUT, that oughta do it for DC. Rabada hasn;t quite nailed the yorker, but he is full enough to not let him get under it. Rashid tries, but goes only as far as long-on

Rashid Khan c Patel b Rabada 11 (7b 1x4 1x6) SR: 157.14

Good hand from Samad, but they still have a lot of work to do. No replays of the height on that full toss yet

18.3
W
Rabada to Abdul Samad, OUT, Keemo Paul takes the catch at long-off. After missing two yorkers, Rabada gets one nearly right. And because it is straight, it has given Samad no room to swing his arms. He toe-ends it to long-off, and Paul takes the catch to his left

Abdul Samad c sub (KMA Paul) b Rabada 33 (16b 2x4 2x6) SR: 206.25

18.2
6
Rabada to Abdul Samad, SIX, that is a high full toss. And just a nonchalant flick of the wrists sends this sailing over deep square leg for six. Still alive. Not called a no-ball
18.1
1
Rabada to Rashid Khan, 1 run, quick thigh-high full toss, and he gets no power into this. Just the single to deep midwicket

Rabada to start the 19th. They need 30. DC got 13 from here

END OF OVER:
18 | 12 Runs | SRH: 160/5 (30 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 8.88, RRR: 15.00)

  • Abdul Samad27 (14b)
  • Ravichandran Ashwin3-0-33-0
  • Marcus Stoinis3-0-26-3

A fair job done by Ashwin at a difficult point of the innings. He did get slogged but found enough dots to raise the asking rate from 14 to 15

17.6

Ashwin to Rashid Khan, 1 leg bye, and he protects the over by following him as he leaves the crease. Off the pad for a leg-bye

Ashwin to Rashid Khan, FOUR, wide length ball, and he goes over extra cover this time. He has nailed it. SRH refusing to roll over and die

17.2

Ashwin to Rashid Khan, no run, tries the big slog sweep, but is beaten by the carrom ball

Rashid has been slightly angry all night tonight. Here is his chance to convert it into something

17.1
1
Ashwin to Abdul Samad, 1 run, fires in a yorker, inside edge to short fine leg, and Rashid calls him through for one

Rashid v Stoinis began in the first half when Rashid got Stoinis out. Will be see more fireworks between them? Only if SRH get close here. It is 14 an over here. Ashwin to bowl another over. It means either Stoinis or Nortje will not bowl another over tonight

END OF OVER:
17 | 9 Runs 1 Wkt | SRH: 148/5 (42 runs required from 18 balls, RR: 8.70, RRR: 14.00)

Stoinis to Abdul Samad, 1 run, high full toss, but not high enough to be called a no-ball. Samad is a little surprised, and pushes this to wide long-on for one

Rashid Khan promoted ahead of Shreevats Goswami

16.5
W
Stoinis to Williamson, OUT, is this the game? Stoinis has produced another wicket. Williamson finally makes a mistake. He has not looked to hit this one into a gap. Stoinis has gone full and wide, and off-cutter. Williamson commits to hitting it in the air and over cover, which means he has to go all the way, but this is too far from him to get power behind the shot. Caught at deep cover

KS Williamson c Rabada b Stoinis 67 (45b 5x4 4x6) SR: 148.88

Fine leg goes back. Midwicket comes up. Opens up the slog

16.4
4
Stoinis to Williamson, FOUR, this is just lovely batting. He has picked his spot beautifully. Third man and point are up, but the cover is pretty straight. Stoinis goes short of a length, and he makes room to hit this square on the off side. Beats deep cover

Iyer fields inside the circle now

That causes a pause in the play. Physio comes on, and goes back

16.3
1
Stoinis to Abdul Samad, 1 run, full, not exactly a yorker, drilled to long-off. Iyer has hurt his left shoulder while throwing this back
16.2
2
Stoinis to Abdul Samad, 2 runs, slower ball, short of a length, punched hard, forward of deep cover, Rabada puts in a dive, saves two runs. Are SRH thinking of their own fielding effort?

Fifty off 27 for this stand. They need another 50 off the next 23

16.1
1
Stoinis to Williamson, 1 run, full, low, wide, hit to extra cover for one

SRH have kept themselves alive, but they will have to be precise and efficient with their attack. They still can't afford to lose a wicket. Stoinis to bowl. Third man and fine leg are up
