Sooryanarayanan: "Kings XI have to open the bowling with Maxwell against the left-handed Padikkal. He bowled superbly in the PP during the last BBL."

Suhas Reddy: "Okay, nothing's changed for RCB looks like. After all, it was SRH's poor batting the other day and nothing great from RCB."

Sunil: "When Kohli dropped Rahul twice, he was 83(55) and 89(59), from the second drop, he has scored 43 runs from 14 balls. Have to say, of RCB loses tonight, it will be due to Kohli's drops. The score which could have been 170-75 has been made into 206."

Anoop: "This shows the importance of luck and some sensible batting which were both missing from SRH the other night. The pathetic bowling of RCB isn't going to get better any time soon and they should just remember that the win against SRH was out of sheer dumb luck."

Nalin Ranjan: "And why was Sundar used only for 2 overs? is he playing as an Allrounder this IPL?"
Ankur: "80 runs in last 5 overs and Rahul scored 66 of those.. What a scintillating innings thay was despite the chances.. Take a bow KL!!"

7:50pm It seems some problems will continue to follow RCB at the death. And why wouldn't they if your personnel don't change? 49 runs off the last two overs for KXIP. KL Rahul went from 90 off 60 to 132 off 69 by the end. Punjab seemed to have slowed down in the middle but this end more than makes up. KL Rahul stuck around to cash in and he did it to perfection. The second highest score in this innings is 26 from Mayank, which gives some indication that you must be settled before you can score runs here. The dew is certainly starting to set in, but is 207 too much for RCB? Forecaster had KXIP getting 180 at the end the of the 18th over.

6
Dube to Rahul, SIX, he bowls the short offbreak and gives up six anyway! He was waiting for it. Back and across on off stump. Right in his swinging arc and he swung it straight over the bowler. The highest score by an Indian in the IPL

Kohli indicates that he wants Dube to bowl offbreaks, pretty much, not this full stuff

19.5
6
Dube to Rahul, SIX, pumped over wide long-on! KXIP have 200. Driving length, floated up at leg stump. Front leg out of the way and a clean swing
19.4
4
Dube to Rahul, FOUR, carved behind point. Full and some width outside off, once again he just stays deep in the crease and opens the face on this
19.3
1
Dube to Nair, 1 run, low full toss outside off, looks to go inside-out over extra but can't time this too well. Just a single to sweeper's right
19.2
4
Dube to Nair, FOUR, swatted to the backward square fence. Walks down at him, pre-meditated. It's a short ball, but he's not quick enough to bother Nair who swivels a touch and sends this on its way
19.1
2
Dube to Nair, 2 runs, full and just outside off, lofted over the bowler and between the two deep fielders at the straight boundary

END OF OVER:

Innocent Bamuri: "Must be energizing being dropped twice by Kohli. K. Rahul has gone berserk on the ball!"

18.6
4
Steyn to Rahul, FOUR, inside edge and it's boundary number four at fine leg on the night. Another Short of a good length ball. Kept a touch low, this one. Rahul was looking for the pull and the inside edge sprinted past the stumps
18.5
6
Steyn to Rahul, SIX, scythed over extra cover. What a shot. 140kph from Steyn, but driving length outside off. Rahul's waiting deep in the crease and merely opens the face after chopping down at this with an angled bat
18.4
6
Steyn to Rahul, SIX, second tier! 95 metres. Wow. All a bit predictable from RCB right now. Slower ball slammed in short of a good length. Rahul waits on this one and pummels this pull shot, far far over midwicket
18.3
0
Steyn to Rahul, no run, good length and sliding outside off, beaten on the slash
18.2
4
Steyn to Rahul, FOUR, first century of the 2020 season! KL Rahul carves this full ball over short third man to bring up his second IPL hundred. It's not been entirelyfluent, especially as he's tired on a slowing pitch on a big ground, but he'd done the groundwork early on and with some reprieves, he's the man who's there at the end. Keeping the runs ticking for his team and reaping the rewards now. This will mean so much to the man who said he was anxious he might not be able to play cover drives thanks to the lockdown

6
Steyn to Rahul, SIX, just clears AB at deep square. Slower ball, good length at leg stump. Waits on it and rolls the wrists. This time it goes square like he wants it to. AB leaps backwards, one-handed after running to his right. Gets a hand on it too, but it was already beyond him

END OF OVER:
18 | 11 Runs | PBKS: 157/3 | RR: 8.72

  • KL Rahul90 (60b)
  • Karun Nair8 (5b)
  • Navdeep Saini4-0-37-0
  • Dale Steyn3-0-31-0

1
Saini to Rahul, 1 run, Kohli drops one again! Much more straightforward this time. Full slower ball, looks to drill that over long-off and loses his shape and his timing. Floats up for Kohli who has to run a straight path, gets under it, and then simply cannot hold on
17.5
4
Saini to Rahul, FOUR, carves between backward point and short third. Fifth offcutter in a row. Short and wide this time. Deliberately chopped behind by Rahul
17.4
1
Saini to Nair, 1 run, offcutter, short of a good length outside off. Backs awalefty and slices to sweeper's
17.3
4
Saini to Nair, FOUR, ramped past short fine. A step into the leg, then into the off side. Classic Karun Nair. Saini attempts another offcutter, it's a full toss and he jabs at this late and gets the bat in the right position
17.2
1
Saini to Rahul, 1 run, good length offcutter on leg stump again. Shoveled to deep square off the front foot
17.1
0
Saini to Rahul, no run, offcutter, good length and outside off. Looks to lace it through the covers, chops it into the pitch

Saini in to finish his spell

END OF OVER:

1
Steyn to Rahul, 1 run, Kohli drops him at deep midwicket! Full toss on leg stump, wanted to use the pace to angle that over the square boundary. But it ended up only slightly to Kohli's right at deep midwicket. He couldn't get completely under it, was looking to catch that a bit to his right, away from his eyeline. And he grabbed at it a bit too soon
16.5
6
Steyn to Rahul, SIX, clears deep midwicket. Just. That was hit hard. Offcutter dug into the surface again, dropped short and sitting up for the pull. Slugs it flat and clears Kohli. It's only into the ad board there, but that is an 87 metre hit.

Abhilash: "@BeardGuy - Funny to see you advocating for the likes of the two of the very few clean-shaven players in this game. Completely agree with the idea of Isuru Udana. But not sure, if Neesham will be as effective since Dube has been very lucky for the wickets he has got and not skillful."

16.5
1w
Steyn to Rahul, 1 wide, full and floated wide outside off. Slipped out, that one, left alone

A ring on the off side now and everyone back on the leg

16.4
2
Steyn to Rahul, 2 runs, nails the yorker at middle and off, jammed down the long-on's left

BeardGuy: "Dube's success with the pace off tells me Neesham would be the X-factor when KXIP bowl. Also, it's about time RCB considered something bold like replacing Philippe with Udana. A hard-hitting finisher with left-arm cutters would work perfectly in UAE."

16.3
2
Steyn to Rahul, 2 runs, dropped short outside off, pulled on the ounce to long-on's right

Steyn to Nair, 1 run, good length just outside off, tapped into the covers
16.1
1
Steyn to Rahul, 1 run, good length, slower ball at off stump. Walks into the leg side and punches straight to extra cover

Ravi: "Why on earth would you send Nair out right now? You have people who can actually bash the bowling like Neesham and Khan sitting there!"
