Sunil Narine says the plan was always for him to bat just after the Powerplay to upset the bowling plans in the middle overs. He acknowledges it was good to get going against spin. He says they were looking at 160 at one point, but while they are happy with 194 it is a good wicket and they will need early wickets

Questionable tactics from DC, but excellent hitting too from Rana and Narine to come within a six of the first 200 since Match 22. And still it is the highest total the IPL in the last 15 matches. Have KKR found a lifeline today?

Stoinis to Morgan, OUT, another wide bouncer, another high ball, and another top edge. Rabada runs back from short fine leg to take the catch. A good last over from Stoinis given what had happened earlier

EJG Morgan c Rabada b Stoinis 17 (9b 2x4 1x6) SR: 188.88

Last ball. Can Morgan hit a six and bring up the 200?

W
Stoinis to Rana, OUT, short, outside off, gets it high, and Rana has fallen to a short ball that has got big. Who would have thought? Except that it has happened in the last over of the innings and not the first. Top edge for a catch inside the circle. A very important hand in an emotional time for Rana

N Rana c Deshpande b Stoinis 81 (53b 13x4 1x6) SR: 152.83

Stoinis to Rana, FOUR, full and wide, looking to deny him the leg-side hit, but the off side is also Rana's strength. And this is a half-volley. He opens the face and drives over backward point for four
19.3
4
Stoinis to Rana, FOUR, looks to drag this short ball from wide outside off, and gets a toe-end edge between the keeper and short fine leg
19.2
2
Stoinis to Rana, 2 runs, goes full and wide to a shuffling Rana, and he ends up slicing a low full toss square of deep cover for two
19.1

Stoinis to Rana, no run, oh Rana, why Rana? Tries the reverse ramp to an on-pace length ball. This is fair game for a wild slog over midwicket. What a miss. Beaten

Stoinis to bowl the last over with a short leg-side boundary.

Rabada to Morgan, FOUR, bonus runs but a love;y shot nonetheless. Ten runs so far off the Rabada over, and he makes room, and Rabada follows him with a short ball. He takes this from outside leg, opens the face, and guides it between short third and point
18.5
6
Rabada to Morgan, SIX, nice knee-high full toss. Yoroker gone wrong. Morgan sends him for a six back over his head. All unfurling of the wrists at the last moment. As Morgan often does with these hits
18.4
1
Rabada to Rana, 1 run, nearly a yorker, outside leg again as Rana makes room. Squeezed out for one to point
18.3
1
Rabada to Morgan, 1 run, short of a length, no room, punched to deep point for one
18.2
1
Rabada to Rana, 1 run, slower ball, nearly a yorker, outside leg as he is making room. Pushed into the covers for one

Fine leg stays in

1
Rabada to Morgan, 1 run, low full toss, takes the inside edge, single to short fine leg

Into the last two. One will be bowled by Rabada. If they aim for 8 to 10 here, they could look for 20 in the last over with the short boundary on the leg side

END OF OVER:

Nortje to Rana, FOUR, finds the gap. Rana is looking to open up the short boundary by shuffling across, and he ends up slogging a length ball towards square leg. The fielder is there, and the ball has gone in air, but just wide of his dive
17.5
0
Nortje to Rana, no run, well bowled. Rana opens up the front leg, but he goes with a quick yorker outside off. Ends up being a low full toss but is out of Rana's reach
17.4
1
Nortje to Morgan, 1 run, slower ball again, nearly a yorker, dug out to cover for one
17.3
0
Nortje to Morgan, no run, shuffles across to try to access the short leg boundary. Nortje beats him with a slower ball that squeezes under his slog
17.2
4
Nortje to Morgan, FOUR, mid-off is up so Morgan picks his spot. Gets under a length ball and lofts him over mid-off. Doesn't need to go for the six here. Just needs to clear 30 yards

From Shiva Jayaraman: "115 runs scored in the middle over (from 7th to 16th) in this innings - the second highest in an innings this season. The highest is 118 by KXIP against KKR at Sharjah earlier in the season"

17.1

Nortje to Morgan, no run, short of a length, outside off, he opens the face but is beaten

Nortje is back

Rabada to Rana, FOUR, the first proper bouncer to Rana all day, but without the field you need for a bouncer. The top edge sails over short fine leg for four. Very questionable plans and field sets from DC
16.5

Rabada to Rana, no run, slower ball, full outside off, hit straight to extra cover

Eoin Morgan comes in, but he is not on strike. Fine leg comes up so no short balls now

16.4
W
Rabada to Narine, OUT, big boundary and Rabada gets his man. He digs this in short, cramps Narine up by following him, meaning the short off boundary is taken out of play. He pulls, makes a decent connection, but not decent enough to clear the big square-leg boundary. Caught, but has he played a match-turning, a season-turning knock here?

Rabada to Rana, 2 wides, slower short ball, down the leg side. This is a wide. And Pant fails to collect the half-volley. Another bye to go with it
16.3
0
Rabada to Rana, no run, misses out. This is a quick length ball angled down leg, and all he needs is a tickle. Instead it clips the pad on the way. Doesn't even get the wide ball
16.2
0
Rabada to Rana, no run, he makes room again, and Rabada follows him and he is beaten outside the leg stump
16.1
4
Rabada to Rana, FOUR, and now all bets are off. In the last four, outside edges will also fly. Rabada bowls length from round the wicket, Rana looks to go over mid-off and cover, but gets a thick edge over short third man

So what do you make of DC's captaincy? Narine comes in, and there is also Rana already in there, which makes it a bad match-up for Ashwin, but they bowl Ashwin. And now they have three overs from their big fast bowlers left in the final four. Is that a bit of a waste? And what explains the absence of a single mean bouncer bowled to Rana? Not one shoulder-high bouncer despite the presence of Rabada and Nortje in your side. And nothing about the fields set for him suggested they wanted to do that
