Scorer: K Vairavan | Commentator: Rashad Mahbub

That's all of our BBL action for today. I hope you all enjoyed it. Please join us for the Qualifier match on January 21st between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Sixers. Until then, here is Rashad and Vairavan signing off. Bye.

Player of the Match Glenn Maxwell: "Thank you very much! It's been a hell of a turnaround this year, and it's been so exciting to be a part of. Stoin (Stoinis) and Mosey (Moores) deserve much credit for keeping the changing room together. It's a very fun place to be a part of at the moment. (Stoins' captaincy) I think he has been pretty consistent throughout. I think the results have changed. On the back of that, I suppose, the groundwork that he built at the start of the tournament and he's been out saying he's held the group together. He's just been awesome. We just can't speak high enough about the changing room at the moment. (Emotions during the match) Yeah, there was a lot of carry-on out there. I think it's just the way we help each other out. We love playing for this team, and the boys have been outstanding in the way that they've come out, they've given their energy, they've provided everything that we've asked for out in the field, and tried their hardest and all we can ask for is 100% effort and we've tried to do that throughout. (Next couple of days) Well, it'll be a flight tomorrow afternoon. I think we'll get together on Tuesday for a training session and then all guns blazing in our finals. It's been a while since we've been here. So we're looking forward to it so much."

Mustafa Moudi: "Just casually going through the Commentary and found one of the feedbackers asking what would be the safe score, at the end of 11th over of the First Innings. The Reply was 180 and HH ended up on exactly 179. This is simply insanely unbelievable. Kudos to Rashad for Excellent prediction !!" Wow, thank you very much. I almost forgot about it after watching a thrilling high-scoring game.

After losing the season's first five matches, who would have guessed that the Melbourne Stars would make it to the playoffs? It's heartbreaking for Perth Scorchers supporters as their team is eliminated from the competition. Maxwell's brilliance with the bat in the first innings, along with the Stars' excellent bowling, kept the Hobart Hurricanes batters hunting for runs and preventing them from settling at the crease. With 17 runs off the opening over, the Hobart Hurricanes got off to a strong start in the run chase. However, in the second over of the game, they lost the wickets of Wakim and Jewell. Mitch Owen began his innings in his own manner, hitting sixes and fours, but was unable to extend his innings today, leaving after scoring 38 runs off 17 balls. During the powerplay, they lost their first three wickets. Stoinis pulled off a blinder by racing backwards for dismissing Caleb Jewell. With tonight's triumph, the Stars maintain their previous record of eight BBL matches won in a row, preventing the Hurricanes from breaking the mark, which stands at seven victories in a row. The Stars fielded brilliantly tonight, and they made a few excellent catches. Nikhil attempted to repair some damage in the middle, but the rate that was required was too high for the Hurricanes batters to handle. Ellis delivered a quickfire innings of 40 runs in 22 balls, but it was too late. The Hobart Hurricanes finish first in the standings, with a negative net run rate. So, following tonight's victory, the Melbourne Stars will meet the Sydney Thunder in the Knockout Match.

Mustafa Moudi: "HH has the Highest Points (Of course, as they are Table Toppers) but the Worst NRR among the Top 4 Teams !!"

Melbourne Stars won by 40 runs!

Steketee to Ellis, OUT, That's the end of Ellis, and the end of the Hobart Hurricanes innings! Back of a length ball, goes after it with full swing of the bat, hits it flat and straight of long on, Maxwell comes around and estimated the ball's path precisely, grabbed it with the reverse cup, looked back to see where the rope was, remained a few meters inside, and posed for the spectators, delighted!
