10.20 pm What might have been had Fawad not dropped Gilkes on 29. Instead, he goes on to build a match-clinching half-century stand with Ross to finish 74 not out. Sydney Thunder now join the Renegades level on 12 points, tied for third on the table. Neither has clinched a playoff spot just yet though because the Hurricanes and Strikers are both close behind on 10 points.
Player of the Match Matthew Gilkes: "It's always nice to have a bit of luck in there and definitely needed it so a bit of a sigh of relief for me [being dropped on 29]. Just to watch [David Warner] on TV for so long to now be able to go out and do it with him, he's great talking you through your innings. It was tough to score when it was top of the stumps but we talked about taking it as deep as possible, not taking any unnecessary risks and it paid off in the end. We knew it was a must win, hopefully we can take that momentum into the next two games and the finals. I love getting down to Manuka and playing. I grew up playing grade cricket here. It's a special ground."
That's it for tonight's live coverage. Come back tomorrow for some more live BBL action. Until then, take care!
Just four runs to get now.
