11.40 pm Thunder close the gap by four points and move into a joint tie for second with Sixers, who are officially second on net run rate, but Scorchers remain at the top of the table with a six-point lead ahead of both Sydney sides.
Thunder batter Sam Billings: "I really wanted to be there to finish the job and go away with a win. We know that they're such a good death side at the back end that 10 per over was going to be tough [so we took the Power Surge earlier] to keep the required run rate manageable. I love playing for the Thunder. I'll be watching [after going home] with interest. The blend of youth and experience is always really healthy. I haven't played too much cricket in the last year and it's been great to get a run of games and showcase what I can do. Hopefully I can take that into the England games. Jonny and Jos won't be there so hopefully I can get a run of five games."
That's it from us tonight. No BBL match tomorrow due to Covid cancelation so come back and join us again on Saturday for more coverage. Until then, take care!
Two to win now off a free hit to be faced by Billings.
Sams enters with four needed to win.
