Thunder move past the Strikers into second place after today's win, just a bonus point adrift of the Sixers at the top of the table with both teams holding 4-1 records. Stars meanwhile are mired in fifth place and need to become better organized with bat and ball to close the deficit. Thanks for joining us today. Come back tomorrow for some more BBL action. Take care!
Man of the Match Alex Hales: "It's different [with the Powerplay rules] so to have two fewer overs is a different challenge. It's not been an easy start but today I was able to cash in. [The slog sweep] is something I was looking to do tonight. It's a true pitch and I struggled against Zampa last time. It's great to have the crowd in and great to have Sam [Billings] as part of the squad. Adam Milne bowls 150 kph as well."
10.37 pm Thunder had their foot on the throat of the Stars from the start and practically never let up from the moment Hales was slog sweeping with authority over the midwicket rope. Green and Sangha were superb with the ball in the chase. Hard to find fault with anything on the Thunder side of things. Stars batting strategy was muddled and something they need to work out. In spite of their firepower, they were miles off the target.
