Thunder win by 29 runs. Far too good. Callum Ferguson's sensible innings was the difference. Both teams batsmen perished too often taking on the enormous boundaries at the Gabba but Ferguson paced his innings perfectly. The Thunder bowlers did a great job to defend the total of 172. Their spinners were excellent.
Callum Ferguson is Player of the Match. "You don't win too many when you're 3 down in the powerplay. Really pleased with the character shown by our batters. We ended up with a winning score on the board. We were confident with that score."
That wraps up our coverage from the Gabba. Great start for the Thunder. The Heat have work to do. Join us again tomorrow for game two between the Sydney Sixers and the Perth Scorchers at the SCG.
