9.50pm After being walloped in the last over with the ball that allowed the Scorchers to get up to 177, James Faulkner returned the favour, finding form of yore with the bat when it mattered the most, in the final over. All his boundaries, two sixes and a four came in three successive balls, when the Hurricanes required 16 off six. But George Bailey set it up with a 39-ball 69 with some help from Caleb Jewell, who was on debut and struck a breezy 20-ball 32. Coulter-Nile and Tye had done splendidly with the bat to catapult their team to a good total but even as Tye got rid of Bailey at a decisive moment in the game, he was the one to concede 16 off three, thereby conceding a match that swung violently at different times, to the Hurricanes.
