The Melbourne Stars have done well enough with the bat to keep their playoff aspirations alive; it now relies on how they perform with the ball and in the field. The Stars lost their opening batter in the powerplay when Rogers misfired on a slog shot and sailed it high towards mid-on. The Stars were playing a bit slowly until Maxwell appeared at the crease. Webster and Stoinis both contributed significantly, with Webster batting 51 off 31 balls and skipper Stoinis getting 32 off 19 deliveries. But, in the end, everything revolved around Glenn Maxwell. He remained at the crease and scored 76 runs off 32 balls, including five fours and six sixes. All of the Hurricanes' bowlers were expensive, with the exception of Ellis, who bowled only one over, allowing three runs and taking a wicket. The second inning will begin soon, so stay put, everyone!

Paul T: "Maxwell scored 35 runs from the last 9 balls he faced!"
