The Scorchers had a spectacular start to their innings. Few half-chances were available, and Billings missed a challenging one when sprinting backwards of the wicket. Hurst scored 23 runs per ball after chipping out at mid-wicket. Allen hit 22 runs off Rutherford's over and changed the momentum of the match. After smashing 67 runs off 31 balls, Allen departed. Green helped the Thunder get back into the game by taking two wickets, including two key wickets of Allen and Turner in quick succession. While catching the ball, Sams and Bancroft ran into each other. According to Gnasher, Bancroft fled the pitch with his bleeding nose covered by his hand, and Sams was brought away in a medical cab after displaying some signs of movement. Shortly later, play began, although the Thunder camp had not yet provided an official report on the physical condition of any player. Lockie and Agar bowled brilliantly in the last overs, keeping them below the 175 mark even though they were heading for 185+. Connolly scored 43 off 31 balls in another impressive innings while remaining in the crease. Chris Green took three wickets as both spinners kept it close from their ends. After a short break, we'll return for the second inning and, perhaps, an update from the Thunder camp as well.
