sumit: "defending champion only because they had power hitter in top aka brown" Doesn't change the fact that they're champions, ma' champion

Byron: "Judging by the comments that have been posted tonight, I'd say Ekanth is contractually obligated to post some of the comments, otherwise nothing would be posted at all." Tbf engagement has been good. A few meh stuff has been let go. But yeah, BBL gets good engagement. Must say again, they got the best Match Threads on Reddit too.

Kapil Baldawa : "How poorly did they bat, Heat and seriously need someone else other than Munro. Munro is done and Walter, well haven't seen people hit half volleys to fielders for dots 5 times in 6 balls. Any other good batter and Heat would have got 150+ easily " I think a good team would've gotten 160, maybe, but that would have needed hitting Sixers out of their lengths or, if ambitious, out of their plans. So much easier said than done

AB: "@Craig - wouldn't bother, Brisbane Heat are the worst-run BBL team by a fair margin. Scattered batting order, no power hitting at the top or in the final overs, wasted overseas slots and predictable fast bowlers that get smacked everywhere." Yeah, and yet they're defending champions...

7:53pm: Okay, there's no point sugarcoating it, but Sixers have dominated this so far. They should win this but the fact that Heat got to 138 gives them a chance to restrict the visitors. The bowling was surgically planned. Using extra bounce and sideways movement early on, Bird got some swing too. Hosein stayed around the wicket even to LHBs but that worked out eventually. You'd take 1-26. And Murphy got two important sticks. McSweeney was one of them, he was the best batter. He swam against the wave to take Heat past 100. Banton gave the team kick-off but they struggled after. Especially Munro. Walter finished it well.

Dwarshuis to Swepson, FOUR, More babyface heat from the Swepper! Superb upper cut to take Brisbane to 138. He was making room and knew he'd be followed. He adjusted by using the momentum, getting the bat up and conveyor-belting the ball over where firs slip wudda been

6
Dwarshuis to Swepson, SIX, That's a reminder that the game's on in Brisbane. Big ol' pop as Swepson whacked it over long-off. It was on top of the bounce, taken up while being followed. Used the flat bat for a 77-metre six

Dwarshuis to Swepson, no run, Bumper. Pacy. Beats the pull and that's another dot
19.3
1
Dwarshuis to Kuhnemann, 1 run, Ooh, almost the hat-trick! Bowler gets hands on it while trying to take a return catch but it came at him too quickly. Parries it towards mid-off
19.2
W
Dwarshuis to Johnson, OUT, Dwarshuis on a hat-trick thanks to bumpers. This one pace-on. Angling in at the body, Johnson was hurried on the pull. Looped it straight to midwicket. Sixers continue to play 5D chess to keep Heat down

Dwarshuis to Walter, OUT, Slower one catches Tall Paul off guard. He was too early into the pull. Trying to drag the cutter from just outside off wasn't the best option either. Top edge balloons to the keeper

raffi-paul: "CRAIG MAYBE YOU SHOULDA TAKEN HIM TO SEE A REAL CRICKET MATCHINSTEAD OF THE CHEAP IMMITATION" I know BBL has this serious non-serious thing going on, but mate, BBL IS REAL CRICKET, REST IS CHEAP IMMITATION!

Kerr to Swepson, 1 run, Full again, Sweppers Peppers tries to whack it leg side, inside edges it to deep square leg
18.4
W
Kerr to Bartlett, OUT, Low fully FTW! Not a great ball, down leg but that was by design. Bartlett was standing on leg and middle instead of just outside leg. He slid the front leg outside leg stump to get inside the line of the full toss. Of course it'd have been wide had he left it, but he tried to whack it over deep-backward square. But he holed out there thanks to an excellent running catch. Bartlett walks back to the remixed version of Country Roads being played

Bird to Walter, 2 runs, Goes across, whips the full ball through square leg from outside off. Silk is magic in the outfield again, charges 20-odd metres towards the ring and throws it flat to the keeper. Batters, thankfully, had time to make it

Bird to Walter, no run, Wide yorker works. Walter lunges and looks to carve it square but it's almost a misjudgement of length. Looked to cut it almost, ball goes underneath bat

Craig: "I have been cricket obsessed for years. My son-in-law has come to the ground tonight to watch his first ever match. Based on Brisbane's performance, doubt he'll be back." Maybe he can become a Sixers fan... or is that too much to ask?

Hosein to Walter, no run, Brilliant comeback from Hosein. Unlucky not to have Walter here. Ball half-volleyed the cover fielder who was coming forward and down on the ball. Was a wide-ish length ball that kept going away, Walter got the cross-bat slap off the bottom-quarter of the bat
16.5

Hosein to Walter, no run, Wide on the fuller side of length, cut oh so hard. Nicely timed too but straight to cover. Walter has a smile and has a word with the keeper
