Prolly a par score, but if the dew continues to settle and the ball comes on at an even pace, 169 will be unders bigtime. Find out how the chase will go... real soon.

8:48pm: Innings full of intrigue not least because of the conditions. Pitch started a bit two-paced but as the dew set in, it got quicker. So, Gades, who flew away in the powerplay, were hit by regular wckets after it. Sixers' spinners were excellent, particularly Davies, who mixed things up from around the wicket to right handers. Gades were in limbo at 85 for 4 around 11 and took the Surge. Hassan got out right after but Seifert and Sutherland got the boundaries and bookended them with ones and twos. There was a bit of slowdown at the death but Kerr and Abbott's bowling deserves some credit for that too.

Kerr to Sutherland, 2 runs, Slot ball at middle and leg, Sutherland clears the front leg and thwacks it across the line. Between long-on and deep-mid. Both batters rush, dive put in. All safe
19.5
1
Kerr to Rogers, 1 run, Change of field meant the bowler would go wide. So the batter went across early, jams a cover drive to the bowler's left. Gives up on the run out but no direct hit at the non-striker's end from the bowler.

Kerr to Rogers, no run, Another yorker, at the stumps, jammed to the bowler
19.3
4
Kerr to Rogers, FOUR, French cuts a yorker through fine leg. Was a full ball that he tried to drive through mid-off, Rogers and Gades will take those

jamie: "and what does 'prolly' mean. you mean probably. write properly" It is probably. Commonly used too

W
Kerr to O'Neill, OUT, There's the one at the stumps. Double-bluff by the batter doesn't work. Big boundary leg side, but he went across anyway. Exposed all three stumps. And Kerr went yorker on middle. Out of access for the flick and ball rattles two stumps

Kerr to O'Neill, FOUR, Chip-driven over extra cover. Full on off, O'Neill didn't move much, drove it conventionally while giving it a bit of elevation

Quite an exercise in defensive death bowling. Naveen Ul Haq bowled a 13-ball over vs Zimbabwe in a T20I the other day. This over could've gone in that direction, but Abbott danced around the line nicely

2
Abbott to Sutherland, 2 runs, Wide yorker, jams a drive and the ball hovers through cover. Two picked up

Abbott to Sutherland, no run, Abbott does that and succeeds. Full ball is well outside the return crease but the batter's across too. Beaten on the cover drive, looks like the bat was far away

Free hit. Finch says 'stay wide'

Abbott to Sutherland, 1 no ball, Might've gone too wide, sir. That might've landed off the cut strip. Sutherland continues to go far across, and Abbott goes for the wide yorker. It flings away and seems indeed to have landed on the grass. Ump, who'd called it wide, changes to no-ball

Bhupender Singh: "Sutherland gives Webster like vibe .. Need a very big Big Bash season to break into Aussie Squad."

Abbott to Sutherland, no run, Spongy wide bouncer. Looked slow. No, just spongy off the pitch. Wide-of-the-crease release is short and close to the return crease. Sutherland was outside off too and tried to ramp it over third. Misses

1
Abbott to O'Neill, 1 run, Low fully on leg, close to a good yorker. Plated to long-on. Sraight bat

Josh Phillippe, mic'd up, says there might be dew and the outfield has quickened up

Abbott to O'Neill, 2 runs, More across-movement from the batter. Bowler stays wide and short. Cut to deep backward point

Jamie: "wtf is a fruit salad over? " A term I saw on Wikipedia's cricket glossary. Six different balls that T20 spinners generally bowl in an over. Objective is to be unpredictable

W
Dwarshuis to Seifert, OUT, Another thick edge to the keeper. Just 110ks. Legcutter is shortish and the left-armer's angle is sharp. Seifert - with his open, diagonal stance (front foot facing long-on) - tries to heave it over mid-on. Ball balloons off the edge to the keeper's right. Taken around shoulder-height
