8:45pm That was great. Both teams were pragmatic, took logical decisions as much as they could and tussled away. Peirson's time at the top has been rough and that's how it ended with Sean Abbott bowling peaches in the first over. Brown and McSweeney scrapped through despite the bowling being tight. Edwards was consistent with his lengths like Abbott. SOK also bowled smartly but Brown finally broke free, and with McSweeney, gave Heat a move on. Sixers' decision to hold Murphy back seemed 50/50 at the time but with SOK removing Brown with crafty drifting and reviewing, it paid off. There was a slight slowdown after that but Renshaw and Bryant got going in the Surge that finished with 31. Abbott and Edwards finished with disciplined death bowling, Renshaw stayed till the end to take them to 166. Lots of flameballs and fireworks going on right now. Alex will enter on in a bit to light up the chase. Stay tuned.

Edwards to Renshaw, 2 runs, OUT, Renshaw tries to steal a non-existent third but the keeper's upto the task, lobs the ball to the bowler and Heat set Sixers 167 to lift the trophy. Edwards went for the yorker again, got it very full and Renshaw smothered a whip to deep midwicket, who threw it to the keeper as the batters scampered.

Edwards to Renshaw, SIX, Sailing, sailing... and it's over! Edwards didn't miss the yorker by much, Renshaw took a small stride forward and clubbed it slightly across the line, was hard to tell if that'd find deep midwicket at the halfway mark but continued to go over
19.4
2
Edwards to Renshaw, 2 runs, Thrashed down the ground, Henriques runs to the left from long-off and pushes the ball in to Abbott, running across from long-on. He got low, picked it up with both hands and splashed it to Abbott while in mid-air. Edwards didn't miss his length by much but Renshaw smeared it with skill and good direction

Edwards to Renshaw, no run, Swept to short fine, no single taken. All tactics now. Slower one on a fullish length on leg, Renshaw got on one knee and tried to loft it but got it off the glove. Johnson was halfway down but was sent back early

W
Edwards to Renshaw, 1 run, OUT, Another two called, throw is accurate to the bowler. Bails off, Bartlett has to sacrifice his wicket. This ball was fuller on the same line, Renshaw's cover drive was better timed but it meant the ball travelled quicker to Henriques. Both teams would probably take that though

XC Bartlett run out 0 (2m 0b 0x4 0x6) SR: -

Edwards to Renshaw, 2 runs, Two taken to wide long-off. Full ball around fifth, Renshaw went hard with the cover drive, squirted it in the gap and scampered

Renshaw, who's been out for a while, is still in. Can he go big against Edwards to finish things off? Crowd are in sync, applauding as the bowler runs in

Three wickets but just six runs off the over. 170 looks much tougher now

Nisha: "Sean Abbott would be on a hat trick should there be a super over tonight and he is entrusted with the task of bowling it . If not , the very first ball of the next season. If he doesn't play for the 6ers and take a wicket off the 1st ball next season, may be the 1st and the last bowler to take a hat trick spread across two seasons and teams !"

Abbott to Neser, OUT, Neser comes and goes, Abbott has three in his last over. Legcutter on a slight back of a length, turned away towards the off-side tramline and Neser had a massive swipe. It skied up off the top edge and Murphy was right under it at midwicket

MG Neser c Murphy b Abbott 0 (1m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Abbott to Walter, OUT, Low fully has been bulleted to short midwicket. Sharp catch by the sub, Mitch Perry, who takes a reflex catch in front of his face. Walter got low and was in a good position to lift it but couldn't get the elevation. Fielder was well inside the ring which was a brave call from the skip. Works in the end. Looked to have stung the fielder

Abbott to Bryant, OUT, Slapped straight to long-off! Wide on a length, 129ks, Bryant held his base and tried to carve it but got it off the toe. Bread-basket catch for the skipper. Good cameo from Bryant but how much will this cost Heat?

DaWolf: "Murphy bowls tight. Surge time. First seam over goes for 18. They bowl another seamer rather than continuing with Murphy. It goes for 13. I don't understand this weird fascination with automatically bowling seamers in surge or death. Bowl whatever the batsman is having trouble with..."
