But Evans came in like thunder, he smoked it to all parts. The highlight being the 28-run Surge over against Hayden Kerr. He kept going, got Connolly for company and the defending champions piled on 131 in the back half.

Laurie Evans: Every run counts, tough coming in with limited balls. Hobbo ended well. I don't want to leave, I've got a job which I'm lucky to do and lucky have another job. Gotta leave for that on Wednesday. Finals is what you play for, tough to leave. Will try to follow the game from Abu Dhabi, probably with Zak (Crawley) as we will be in the same hotel.
