By the way, our stats whiz Sampath Bandarupalli has the scenarios: 1. Hobart need to win their remaining three matches to make the playoffs; even two will be enough, if they can beat Strikers today and Stars later. 2. Strikers need to win their remaining three matches, alongside few results going their way. If they lose today, they are out

8:42pm There was lots of storylines from that innings. The stumbling start which made it seem like a one-sider, wickets in the middle which reinforced the earlier trend and a brilliant counterattack to make it a potentially close contest. Payne got Jewell early. Overton's double-wicket over displayed great bowling. The spinners got in the act too but McDermott, who stayed through all of it, took his chances with Chris Jordan and they came off. Things started to turn from the second Surge over. The bowlers, especially Payne, missed their mark. It's not a daunting score but definitely better than what was the case before.

Ben McDermott: Tried to give myself a bit of time and went big at the back end which was nice. Had to take on the shorter boundary. Had to get to a good score. Good pitch despite being bit sloppy and slow

Thornton to McDermott, SIX, Wide but McDermott can reach out to get under it. Slot stuff at this stage, he heaved it high. Long-on was at the boundary, interested, but it cleared him

Thornton to McDermott, no run, Misses out on a rank fully, McDermott smiles in acceptance. It was around shin-height and on fifth, he tried to clobber it across the line.

Thornton to McDermott, FOUR, Goes across and finally connects with the paddle. Gets it on the low full toss while Cossack squatting, goes off balance to help get the right angle over short fine

Overton to Dooley, no run, Mistimed Dilscoop takes it to short third. Length at the stumps, Dooley shaped to go over leg but decided to change direction last second. They decide not to take the run.

Chuvee: "How well have Jordan and McDermott proven many like me wrong. Thought 140 was impossible- now the HH are targeting 160-170!!!"

W
Overton to Jordan, OUT, Lbw appeal. Not given, Strikers review. Jordan was premeditating, went back in the crease and across to off as Overton was delivering from wide of the crease. So the bowler went for the leg-stump yorker, Jordan was beaten on the flick and got hit on the boot while staying inside the crease. And Ian Bishop's instinct on comms, that it was hitting leg stump, was correct. Great cameo from Jordan though

Overton to Jordan, SIX, Helicoptered over cover! Jordan was outside off, got a length ball going further away from him. Was deep in the crease and bashed it so hard the bat swing almost had the whiplash

Overton to McDermott, 1 wide, Tight wide call, given though. The full ball was along the tramline if anything, batter shaped to play before leaving

Overton to McDermott, SIX, Too full and McDermott lofts it down the ground. Smart reactions from him, kept the front foot out the way but didn't stride forward, so he could comfily short-arm drive it

Thornton to Jordan, 1 run, High-ish full toss almost did the trick. Close to top-of-stump height at 142ks, angling in at middle which meant Jordan didn't have the room for a flat-bat slap. He spliced it to the left of the bowler, was just out or reach

Abdul Samad: "I think you missed but on the 15.3 delivery, they raised 50 run partnership" Thanks
