8:10pm A final-ball six has taken the Scorchers past 150. It was an uncharacteristically scratchy Scorchers innings, though. Crawley and Whiteman fell early in the piece, leaving Hardie and Inglis to rebuild.

They both did a good job, and also kept the Scorchers ticking along at a healthy rate. Pope, however, brought the Strikers roaring back into the contest, snapping up the pair. Evans, who tormented the Strikers in Perth a couple of days ago, raced away to 29 but once he fell, the innings flagged.

Only 34 runs came off the final five overs, and that has set the game up beautifully for the Strikers. Apart from Pope, Payne was superb, especially at the death. Thornton was not bad either, with Boyce also popping up with a scalp. Short also gave away just 11 runs in his three overs.

The Strikers, given how fruitful chasing has been at this venue this season, will back themselves to win this, although it will take a brave person to bet against the Scorchers coming up with something special. Join us in a bit for what promises to be a fascinating run-chase!

Payne to Tye, SIX, six to finish the innings! Low full toss on middle and off, but Tye seems to have telegraphed it. Walks across early and then whips it over fine leg!

Payne to Tye, no run, back of a length delivery angled across the batter well outside off. Tye steps to the off side, trying to smash it over cow corner. Only swats away a few flies

Here's Tye

Payne to Connolly, OUT, another catch for Overton! Full and zipped into the pads. Connolly tries to create room to go downtown but is unable to do so. Short-arm jabs it almost and hitting to the long straight boundary, that was never going to be enough. Overton swoops in from long on and does the rest!

1
Payne to Richardson, 1 run, short and wide outside off. Richardson has an agricultural mow across the line and the ball flies off the toe-end. The keeper gets a glove to it and parries it to short third

Richardson is the new batter in. Can he get a boundary away?

W
Payne to Agar, OUT, goes miles up, and taken by Overton comfortably! Hard length outside off. Seems to just hold in the surface, meaning that Agar toe-ends it. Almost brings down rain with it, but when it comes down, Overton is well settled to complete the catch at long on. He briefly looked at where the fence was but he was well within bounds!

One over left. Even 160 seems a fair distance away at the moment. Payne to bowl. Can these two left-handers line him up?

Overton to Agar, no run, changes up the pace and bowls it shorter outside off, perhaps as a riposte to Agar shaping up for the scoop. Agar, because of the line, gets cramped for room and misses it altogether

Overton to Connolly, no run, short and wide outside off. Connolly swishes wildly and skews it off the under-edge towards the keeper

Overton to bowl the penultimate over

Right. 142 on the board. How many more can the Scorchers get from here? Can they get up to 170? Even 160 will be a very competitive total with the kind of bowling they have

Boyce to Evans, OUT, straight to short third man! Slowed up even more on a length on middle and off. Evans seems to pre-meditate the reverse sweep, only to find out, rather fatefully, that he just does not have the requisite pace to work with. Does not bail out of the stroke and all he does is chip it tamely to Payne. Crucial wicket at this stage!
