8:45pm A tepid batting display by the Stars and they finish with just 101. They were rocked early, with Harper and Webster falling inside two overs. Rogers got a good start but could not convert it into a big score. Stoinis, too, scratched around before perishing to Behrendorff, who also accounted for Larkin in the same over. Cartwright and Dawson tried resurrecting the innings but the damage had already been done by then.
As for the Scorchers, they were superb throughout. Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers, scalping three wickets. McKenzie, who had not picked up a BBL wicket until tonight, was on a hat-trick at one point and kept batters guessing with his variations. Richardson, too, was tidy, with Tye and Hardie picking up a wicket apiece.
No prizes for guessing who the happier of the two sides is at the break, and unless something dramatic happens, the Scorchers should get the job done tonight. Do join us in a bit for the run-chase!
Jason Behrendorff: It came out okay. Took a bit of time to find my length. Was able to pull it back in the middle nicely. (On the pitch) We have bowled really well. There was a bit of movement off the seam. The new ball seemed to come on better than when it got old. (On the T20I series against India) Every time I get a chance to play for Australia, it is special. It is hot and humid out there (in India), so always get a bit of swing. If I am batting (tonight), we are in real trouble (smiles).
