8.40pm Well... that was distinctly average from the Stars. Not even the loss of Sandhu to a calf strain could disrupt Thunder's stranglehold. They will need a run a ball to book themselves a knock-out slot - what a tale that would be after that performance. And on this evidence, it ought to be a cakewalk against a team that hasn't exactly checked out, but never really checked into the tournament in the first place. PDP will be back for the chase shortly.

McAndrew to Larkin, 2 runs, short once, an off-balance hack to long-on, they come back for the second but though the shy is true, the keeper misses the stumps with his attempted run-out, and 120 will be the target

McAndrew to Larkin, no run, slower ball again, back of a length, and another hopeless heave across the line, it's out of the back of the hand. Utterly confounded
19.5
1w
McAndrew to Larkin, 1 wide, short once again, beaten on a wild pull but luckily for the batter it's down the leg side

Can Stars reach the psychologically crucial run-a-ball mark?

McAndrew to Larkin, no run, short again, climbing past a poorly conceived uppercut. This is a superb death over
19.3
0
McAndrew to Larkin, no run, attempted ramp, but that's excellent bowling, tight line, back of a length, enough pace to beat the inverted stroke before he can lay any bat on it
19.2
2
McAndrew to Larkin, 2 runs, slower ball, dug into the pitch, an off-balance pull to the leg side
19.1
0
McAndrew to Larkin, no run, bowled into the pitch, that's a good surprise delivery, Larkin had no response as the ball hopped past his nose

Ron: "More to Hari's point, the BBL is in real trouble if they don't find a way to attract the really big name players like they used to AND keep them here for the whole tournament. "

1
Green to Larkin, 1 run, dipping on the full length, nudged to mid-on, another single. Stars are imploding

Manthan Jain: "Is there something in the pitch or just poorest batting......." A hint of the former, a lot of the latter

1
Green to Wood, 1 run, onto the front foot, eased out to cover
18.4
W
Green to Coulter-Nile, OUT, ugly flat launch, swallowed at mid-off! Slower, wider, tempting the new man to have a swipe. He does just that, with no base and even less timing, a huge leading edge, high into the covers. This innings is disintegrating

Green to Coulter-Nile, no run, round the wicket, zips one through past a thrashed back-cut, keeper gathers outside off

Green to Cartwright, OUT, two in two! Another drag-down, another scuffed pull. another easy grab at mid-on. This is ... sub-optimal

Hari: "Is this one of the worst BBL till now ? Except for a few gem innings, every game seem to follow a same pattern, early wickets ,struggling middle, barely any boundaries (for T20s) and 140-160 score only to be Defended back again." I do feel the quality is lacking this year... SA20 and ILT20 have swiped some of the big overseas names

17.6
W
Usman Qadir to Webster, OUT, drags it down, but Webster can't capitalise! Skids on flat, into a big wind-up, a floppy scuff to mid-on ends another half-started knock. Stars are spluttering

BJ Webster c Green b Usman Qadir 14 (20m 14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

1
Usman Qadir to Cartwright, 1 run, hacked away off the back foot, high on the bat, plops at mid-on, just another single
17.4
2
Usman Qadir to Cartwright, 2 runs, cut away out to deep point, chasing the width but can't find the precious boundaries just yet
17.3

McAndrew to Cartwright, no run, hits the pitch once more, mixing up the pace well as another swishy pull finds thin air
16.5
1
McAndrew to Webster, 1 run, slower ball, down the leg side, Webster can't time his pull out to backward square
16.4
1
McAndrew to Cartwright, 1 run, on the back foot, open-faced slice and Ross at backward point is intrigued by this one... doesn't look like it's a catch, surely a bump-ball, but the umpires are checking. Yep, straight off the toe of the bat and into the ground
16.3
1
McAndrew to Webster, 1 run, shaping to leg again, McAndrew bangs his slower ball down the leg side, flicks off the hip as the keeper rushes round to gather
