8.40 pm A trio of wickets apiece started by Maddinson and then followed up by Topley and Richardson. Stars with a very underwhelming total on another day when they've been depleted by Covid. An opportunity now for the Renegades to start digging themselves out of the BBL cellar. Stay with us for the start of the chase shortly.

Liam: "Big difference between football leagues and BBL, a football season is played over a year, BBL is much less than that. Football leagues are postponing games in exceptional circumstances too. BBL players could miss 5 games with a positive test, that's over a quarter of the season!" Missing two or three games in a season long football comp can mean the difference between playoffs or not in the NFL, or between a Champions League place and Europa League. There are consequences, but they can't just stop everything when a couple key players are missing otherwise the postponements and delays are never-ending.

Matt: "I'm sure it's already been discussed, but this isn't really fair. The Stars finals chances slip away further with every game they have to play without three quarters of their squad, and I'd argue the integrity of the season is slipping away with it." The big four American pro sports leagues, European soccer leagues are all dealing with it by generally playing on. The Covid era is about finding solutions. If you're missing star players, it's become clear that you have to suck it up and deal with it. Squad depth becomes essential rather than relying on one or two big names, especially if those big names become unavailable.
