4.53pm Welcome back. The Hurricanes need 168, and they'll be pretty confident of getting there, especially if Ben McDermott spends a decent length of time at the crease. He'll open alongside D'Arcy Short. It'll be spin to start, in the form of Arjun Nair.
The Hurricanes will be happy with that score, given how well the Thunder started. Khawaja at the top, and Ross at the end were excellent, both getting forties, and Cutting's 14-ball 31 was much needed at the death overs. Spin ruled in the middle overs, with Short taking three and Lamichhane one. Don't forget the run-out from Ellis either, that deserves to go into the highlights reel for the season review. Hurricanes will be especially happy because Riley Meredith was pulled out of the XI moments before the game started. They also have an extra batsman in Wright, who was the X-Factor sub for Johan Botha. Who you backing for the win? We'll be back with the chase shortly.
Vivaan : "After such a good choke from Lamicchane and Short , Boland and Ellis have just let it go"
Danish: "I wonder if Cutting can still make selection for the WT20? He's great with these finishes..also done this in the PSL."
Boland - economy of 13 - will bowl the final over. Another thirteen means the Thunder will reach 171

Nick: "I'm not sure it's your remit, but I'd love to see some stats about the so-called power surge and whether or not it actually helps batting teams. It seems to me that early on in the competition it was a major hindrance but now teams have started to find their stride with it. Thoughts?" -- I just think that middle/lower order batsmen don't usually play with seven fielders inside the circle, so they don't know to to approach Power Surges. Especially when the set batsman falls and a new man comes in. But I think they'll learn as time passes. That's why I think it sometimes doesn't work out well for batting teams. Also doesn't help if you keep the Power Surge too late with not-so-great batsmen using it. There's a learning curve...
Harry: "I think Thunder will need a finish similar to the Strikers' and Scorchers' finishes over the past couple of nights to have a decent chance... will need 165-170 at least you would think "

That Power Surge earned the Thunder 28 runs
iNDER: "I think @Garet is not aware of rules. Powerplay cannot be taken before 10th over."
Rahim Chagani: "Do the new rules not favour bowlers? You could potentially bowl all four overs in the first 10 then get subbed out but if you bat (and you're out) you're unable to be subbed out? " -- Not really especially with your logic. You can't be subbed out if you've bowled more than six deliveries

Stuart: "Thunder still way ahead thanks to the excellent opening partnership"
Garetj: "I think sides are overthinking the power surge. Powerplay used to last for 6 overs, Uzzie and Hales were belting it, ball was still hard - should have just taken it immediately at the fifth over. It appear sides think they need to hold it back, but could have kept the pressure on. "
