8.15 pm Superb Powerplay from the Strikers between Carey and Weatherald got the ball rolling and they never really slowed down through the innings. Carey gets spilled on 26 off a straightforward return chance facing Labuschagne's part-time leg spin and goes on to bring up his second career Big Bash ton. Stiff chase on the cards for the Heat in what is more or less a de facto knockout game. Whoever loses today is going to face near insurmountable odds to reach the playoffs with each side having two games remaining in the regular season.

Steketee to Neser, 1 run, short on the stumps, pulled to deep backward square for one.

Abhijato: "Carey was released from his IPL squad yesterday ... He's making sure he doesn't remain unsold in the next IPL auction."

Steketee to Carey, OUT, bouncer down leg, goes to pull and it flicks something on the way through. Half-hearted appeal and he's given out. Carey can't believe it and replays show it came off the arm and not the glove or bat. But all things considered he can't complain too much. Collected another 75 runs after Labuschagne gave him a very generous second chance.

Steketee to Carey, FOUR, brings up the century in style with a scoop over fine leg! Steketee tries to bowl this full and wide but doesn't get the yorker length right, it's short enough to allow Carey to get under this and flick it wide of the keeper and short fine leg. Just the sixth player in BBL history with multiple centuries in their career. And he was dropped by Labuschagne off a sitter on just 26.

Wildermuth to Carey, 1 run, full and wide, carves the yorker out for a single wide of extra cover to keep strike heading into the final over just one boundary away from a century.

Dylan: "Not sure what's with all the whining, I'd have loved to still have Morne in the team but the truth is Bartlett did a good job and keeping him in would have either had the same or worse results"

2
Wildermuth to Carey, 2 runs, full and wide, punched down the ground wide of long-off and they scamper a pair.

Josh: "I don't get what all the fuss is about ..... at the time of the choice had to be made, Morne Morkel was the only logical choic. Most bowlers had bowled more than one .... and personally Id prefer Bryant chasing 200 instead of Morkel maybe getting 1/38 off 4....."

Wildermuth to Carey, 1 wide, slower wide bouncer, way way outside off, Carey tried to leap and swat this over point but it's out of reach.

Renshaw enters off strike as Carey crossed in plenty of time while the ball was in the air.

Wildermuth to Gibson, OUT, tries to premeditate a ramp over fine leg and it goes pear-shaped. Slower ball lands full and very wide outside off, Gibson tries to get off the mark with an inventive stroke after shuffling way outside off but only manages to spoon this straight up over square leg. Lynn runs across from midwicket and calls off the keeper to take the catch in stride reaching out in front of his body.

Amir Ali: "My backing is again with Mr. Witness as he is a bowler and you can't blame him for one bad over as the rest of 3 bowlers bowled so far had similar or even more economy rates (10 or 11 rpo.)." I think Amir still has an image of 26-year-old Morne Morkel in his mind instead of the current 36-year-old version.

Bartlett to Salt, OUT, length ball wide outside off, tries to drag this back over the leg side instead of working with the angle to cut, winds up toe dragging this in the air toward long-on, simple catch taken 10 yards in from the rope.

Dezz: "The truth is... Morne is not a great T20 bowler anyway, not sure why Heat are so keen to have him. As a Surrey fan I should know - great in the 4 day stuff, not so with the white ball."

17.3
4
Bartlett to Salt, FOUR, full and wide, slices this high behind point, Marnus races across to his left to try to slap this back in but looked pretty clearly like he was in contact with the rope. Third umpire is taking his sweet time and quite generously rules it in favor of the Heat for two.

Bartlett to Carey, 1 run, short and wide, cuts this to short third man, misfield but not enough to allow the second.
17.1
4
Bartlett to Carey, FOUR, knee high full toss wide outside off, reaches out to slap this, was in the air at catchable height but found the gap between backward point and short third man and bounces downhill.

Anthony: "Great power surge from the Heat all things considered. But no wicket and now have a feeling Salt and Carey are gonna go absolutely bananas. 210 is on"

Gregory to Carey, 1 run, good length ball cut away for one.

Witness: "Who cares about Morne's fielding? That's like dropping McGrath for his batting. He's in the side for his bowling". In a Test scenario I'd agree. But with overs capped, can't afford to be hiding weak links the 80% of the innings that they can't bowl.
