5.36pm Innings break Scorchers did an outstanding job to finish with 8 for 179. Josh Inglis and Jhye Richardson were superb. The Scorchers were 4 for 66 but scored 99 from the last 10 overs. Nathan Ellis ended up with 4 for 34, his best figures in BBL cricket. Sandeep Lamichhane and D'Arcy Short were excellent in the middle overs.

Nick: "Richardson has to be in line for the test squad surely. Obviously white ball form is not a good indicator of red ball form - but he is clearly the form bowler of the competition." All indications are he will be going to South Africa, Nick. But his lack of first-class bowling loads has to be a concern. He hasn't played a first-class game since November 2019 and hasn't bowled more than 10 overs in a game since then.

Danny: "Feels above par to me. Especially against the Perth Quicks!"

Henry: "Intriguing chase here. Runs on the board with a good score but the Canes have a great lineup. Early wickets a must for the Scorchers."

greg: "so Alex, will Hobart be 'pleased' with this score 179 too to chase?" Not after conceding 99 in the last 10, and allowing Richardson to score 29 off 14.
