Innings break 8 for 107 for the Scorchers. Hard to know how defendable that is on a surface that hasn't seen much BBL cricket. They made just 103 against the Renegades on a drop-in at Marvel Stadium earlier this season and gave the Renegades a scare with the ball early but it was nowhere near enough. This pitch appears much better to bat on than that one. They started horribly losing four in the Powerplay and never recovered. They couldn't fine the rope but also struggled to score regular ones and twos. The pace of Riley Meredith was particularly damaging on this pitch. The Hurricanes know what they need to do.

Mike: "patient batting on good wickets is key to this BBL. I don't think standard of batting is down that much as bowlers seem to be more disciplined and bowling in better areas this year? 110 or 115 might be a winning score here." A lot of times have invested in overseas bowlers. The Heat and the Strikers are two of the few with overseas batsmen
