The same surface as that between India and Australia earlier in the tournament was used today, and Afghanistan picked four spinners. The combined figures of three of them - Noor, Nabi and Rashid - read 30-0-121-5; the pace bowlers Naveen and Omarzai, on the other hand, conceded 102 across their 12 overs. Join us for the chase soon though, with Ashish to be back in a while.
ASB: "Excellent last over by Naveen - 2 wickets and 3 runs only - but 58 runs in previous 4 overs may have done the damage to tilt the match in Pakistan's favour. "
Abdullah Shafique: "All of our guys have to have confidence in them. We knew that the wicket will spin - and that they have world-class spinners - so we just believed in ourselves. Partnerships play a key role, and we had that in mind."
Magizh: "50 above par methinks!"
5.40pm Are Pakistan 20 short, or have they got 20 too many? It took an audacious sixth-wicket stand of 73 off just 45 balls between Ifthikar and Shadab for Pakistan to finish at 282. Ifthikar's strike rate in smashing 40 was 148 - and Shadab's for the same score was 105 - after all those before them mostly struggled to get going. But Babar hit 74 and Shafique got 58 in contributions from the top order, as Afghanistan will rue what went wrong in the end.

Maybe 290?
Taha: "Did you say Pakistan supporters? Are there Pakistani supporters in the stand?" --- Yup, surely
