6.10pm SL ran away to a brisk start - Nissanka and Perera added 125 for the first wicket - but Australia bossed the middle and end overs to dismiss them for 209 in 43.3 overs. Zampa led the way with four wickets while Cummins and Starc picked up two wickets apiece. Maxwell also did his bit with the ball, with the fielders also supporting the bowlers on Monday. We will be back shortly for Australia's chase.

Sowmya : "Well begun is half done but the other half also needs to be done by sustaining the beginning and also finishing well."

Karuna: "Very frustrating to see SL line up implode like this after such a fantastic start by openers. Maybe the team is lacking leadership."

BeardGuy: "I think Sri Lanka still stands a chance, if they are able to use the wind to generate lots of swing and drift."

Maxwell to Asalanka, OUT, Maxwell wraps SL up for 209. Tossed up liberally and dips on middle, Asalanka tries to take Maxwell on with a slog-sweep but can only slice it to Labuschagne in the outfield. He can't clear him in the deep. Job well done from Australia

"Only twice have Australia picked up more wickets in the middle overs of an ODI since the end of the last WC," Al Muthu finds out. "They have 8 now. They took 9 against England in Nov 2022 (that series nobody cares about, least of all England after they won the T20 WC) and India in March 2023, which was a series decider, which they won."
