2.02 pm: Mark Wood - "I thought we started off brilliantly. To get two wickets early on set the ball rolling. The spinners controlled it brilliantly in the middle. Great team performance. Everything is going well (with his ankle). I think I'm in the form of my career, got to keep this going. The pitch was gripping a bit and the spinners said the same thing. I hope I'm not going to be needed (in the chase)! I'm pretty confident we'll do the job."

1.57pm: Sri Lanka end with 232 for 9. You suspect it will not be enough to stop this rampaging England batting line-up, despite the glorious uncertainties of cricket and all that. Mathews ended up with a decent knock, though he struggled to get going in the middle. Picked up well at the end though, and ensured the team lasted 50 overs at least. Avishka Fernando provided the brightest spark for Sri Lanka, and if he hadn't tried a nothing upper-cut, who knows how Sri Lanka's innings would have gone? England bowled superbly of course, but Sri Lanka still have questions off their batting line-up that aren't being answered.

Archer to Mathews, no run, another bouncer, and Mathews is too late on the pull, can't connect.

Archer to Mathews, no run, sharp bouncer and Mathews can only duck under it

Archer to Mathews, 2 runs, another low full toss, Mathews gets down on his knee and twirls it from outside off to long-on's right and they push hard to get two

Archer to Mathews, no run, low full toss and Mathews swats it across the line to long-on. Declines the single to stay on strike

Venky: "So Malinga, the senior most player in the team, had to give a single and bring well settled Mathews to the batting crease but instead he does that. Sums up Srilankan cricket in recent times in a way" - yeah, poor choice of shot

Archer to Mathews, no run, follows it with a pin-point yorker on middle stump that Mathews is just able to dig out

Archer to Mathews, SIX, nails the big swing over cow corner. That's a well-timed one - a rarity in this innings by Mathews. Full on the pads, and swung lustily

Hugh: "Think that counts as getting a taste of your own medicine, Malinga falling to a leg stump yorker."
