That's that! A thorough win for India who will take a lot of confidence going into the second T20I which will be played at this very venue in two days. If you missed any of the action, don't worry S Sudarshanan's report has you covered. That's it from us today. Thanks for tuning in, we will be live nice and early on December 23 for the second T20I. Till then, this is me Ashish Pant, signing off on behalf of Raghav and Harshith. Ciao!

Jemimah Rodrigues is the player of the match : [Why waste form?] 100% That was the mindset, when the runs are coming, I need to capitalise. [Need four to five fielders to stop that late cut] I will still find the gaps (laughs). [Mindset?] For me, it was to understand the conditions. It was slightly sticky, not as flat as everyone initially though. I was in good touch. My mindset was simple. In my mind I was blank, I was just reacting to the ball. We have been going really well. What has happened in the past has happened. What's next? It is the T20 WC. We just want to win that. [On playing Gimhani] Our video analysts told us hat she is very good. She is a rising star and will be doing well for SL. I was just reacting to her deliveries and playing over the fielder.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the India captain: With bat and ball, yes. We are working on our fielding. Don't know why we keep dropping catches. It is wet out here, but it is not an excuse. That is something we really need to think about. Next match we will come about with better approach. [Bat first?] We are playing after a month. We don't want to unnecessarily challenge ourselves. We just want to do well for the team. We just wanted to bowl first and see how it goes. We wanted to show the better approach.

Chamari Athapaththu, the Sri Lanka captain: [Batting] 120 is not a good total. We have to bounce back in the next game. We did a lot of mistakes in the middle. We have to play positive cricket in the middle. [Dew] We can't play the conditions. We have to play in these conditions and hopefully we can play better cricket in the next few days. We need to improve a few areas especially in batting. We have to play positive cricket. We played very defensive cricket. We have to be positive. I have to show more responsibility and I have to lead from the front. I hope the youngsters also do better.

10.02pm A comprehensive win for India who take a 1-0 lead. Jemimah Rodrigues was the star of the show in the chase, finishing unbeaten on 69 off just 44 balls with ten fours. She was quick with her footwork, played the late cuts superbly and ran brilliantly. India lost Shafali early but Jemi alongside Mandhana added 54 for the second wicket. Jemi then added an unbroken 55 runs for the third wicket with Harmanpreet to help India win on a canter. Do hang around for the presentation
