Bangladesh managed to cut their work short by grabbing that wicket on the final ball, and they will be eager to bowl out the visitors as early as possible tomorrow morning. For Ireland, it will be a battle of survival for the tailenders when play resumes. Please note that Day 2 will start at 9:15 am local time. Thank you for tuning in and staying with us throughout the day. Do join us again tomorrow for more cricket action. Until then, this is Rashad Mahbub, signing off on behalf of Hemant Brar, Harshith Gowda, and M. Venkat Raghav. Goodbye.

4:45 pm Stumps, Day 1. Bangladesh finished Day 1 with smiles on their faces, having grabbed the wicket off the very last ball of the day to break a solid partnership. Ireland, however, will be disappointed, as they should have played out the final over with more caution. The crucial fifth-wicket partnership between Campher and Tucker lasted for 53 runs before Campher, after scoring 44 runs, edged a slog stroke to Shanto at slip. Debutant Hasan Murad finally got his first Test wicket, and he struck again, tricking the other set batter, Lorcan Tucker, on 41 runs, to play outside his crease, allowing Litton Das to complete a swift stumping. More wickets followed as Miraz dismissed McBrine with a floated delivery right before the drinks break. Despite the collapse, a composed partnership of 48 runs between Jordan Neill and McCarthy took Ireland well past the 250-run mark. Hasan Murad was the most impressive bowler on debut, bowling slow, tight, and getting the most turn. All five bowlers used by Bangladesh got their names in the wickets column, with Miraz bagging three wickets and Murad finishing with two.

AJ: "How are you guys not freaking out about this? Last time a test was played between these two sides in Bangladesh- same thing happened, a wicket on the last ball of day one- albeit it was by Mcbrine." Everyone's stunned by the last ball drama, AJ.

Taijul Islam to Neill, OUT, Massive appeal, and the finger goes up at last! And Taijul has struck in the very last ball of the day. It was a quick, good-length delivery angling into the middle-leg. As Neill defended off the front foot, the ball skidded through the daylight gap between bat and pad, hitting his front pad right in front of the stumps. It looked absolutely plumb to me. Neill still opted to send it upstairs, with a disappointed look, but Ultra Edge confirmed no bat was involved, and ball tracking showed all three reds and hitting the middle stump. Bangladesh finished the day with massive smiles and applause from the dugout. That will be Stumps on Day 1.

Tarek: "Bangladesh's bowling is not good against tailenders!. I see 300-320!" I don't get the idea of bowling spinners from both ends with the new ball, though.
