Substantial contributions from Nick Welch, Brendon Taylor and Sikandar Raza helped build a competitive score. Ziaur Rahman wrapped up the tail and ended with impressive figures of 7-97. Afghanistan came out to bat and were tested incessantly, with many deliveries hissing past the outside edge, finding it tough to face the music. Abdul Malik holed out to backward square for just two, and then the seasoned pair, who have batted together for many years, soaked up the pressure and made sure they didn't lose further wickets.
