3:05 pm What a phenomenal start for Gurbaz and Afghanistan! The wicketkeeper-batter exploded in the first over, scoring 19 runs with three fours and a mammoth six. Then Zadran and Gurbaz hammered the Zimbabwean bowling attack, bringing up their fifty-run partnership in just 24 balls. Despite Evans dropping a difficult chance when Gurbaz was on 27, the damage was done: Afghanistan finished the Powerplay with 73 runs, their third-highest Powerplay score ever. The power-hitting continued as Gurbaz reached his 11th T20I fifty and Zadran brought up his third in a row this series. Gurbaz then unleashed complete carnage on Ryan Burl's 14th over, striking three sixes and three fours for 30 runs! The 159-run opening stand finally ended spectacularly when Sikandar Raza sprinted back from the ring to take a stunning, diving catch to dismiss Gurbaz for a blistering 92 runs off 48 balls. Ibrahim Zadran followed soon after, out for 58, dragging a slower ball onto his stumps while attempting a ramp scoop. Afghanistan missed their footing slightly in the middle, thanks to Raza's economical bowling. However, Sediqullah Atal provided the much-needed late boost, scoring 35 off 15 balls and helping the team surge past the 200-run mark. Ngarava conceded 19 runs in his final over. Sloppy fielding and dropped catches cost Zimbabwe significantly today. Evans grabbed two wickets, and Ngarava got one. We will be back for the mammoth run chase after a short break.
Bacha Khan : "Afghanistan's final total fell 30-40 runs short, a deficit that can be directly attributed to Ibrahim Zadran's poorly paced innings. His consumption of over 40 balls without a significant acceleration was a fatal miscalculation."
Sulaiman Sargar: "Very wrong captaincy as they sent Shahidullah before Nabi as Nabi could score very quickly during death overs. "
Hefaz: "If Atal bat like that in the power play, AFG's biggist problem will be solved."
