4:47 pm Phew, what a marathon of spin bowling. We witnessed three hours and 18 minutes of continuous spin. Bangladesh started cautiously, getting 40 runs in the Powerplay. Opener Saif Hassan took 15 balls to get off the mark, only to hit a massive six over cow corner and then get out on the very next delivery, edging it to the slip fielder. The West Indies spinners quickly took control. Motie was introduced right after the Powerplay and struck immediately, forcing Hridoy to chip a catch to backward point. Then, part-timer Athanaze dismissed Shanto and later got Ankon as the batters struggled to break the shackles. The West Indies spinners were relentless, bowling stump-to-stump and forcing the batters into their shell. Captain Shai Hope missed two crucial chances behind the stumps--a caught-behind off Ankon and a later stumping chance off Soumya Sarkar. Soumya Sarkar top-scored for Bangladesh with 45 runs off 89 balls but failed to accelerate. The innings was given a crucial boost by Nurul Hasan, but the real damage was done by Rishad Hossain, scoring 39 runs off 14 balls, who struck two sixes and a four off Motie's penultimate over and then scored 16 runs off the last over. This quick-fire 50-run partnership off just 24 balls between Rishad and Miraz, remaining unbeaten on 32 runs, proved extremely costly for the West Indies. Motie was the main wicket-taker with three scalps, but Athanaze was the silent star, picking up two wickets with an incredible economy of just 1.42 in his full 10-over quota. We will be back for the run chase after the break.

Fahim Rahman: "Rishad breaks the 20 years ODI record of highest ODI strike rate (278.57) in an innings by a Bangladeshi batsman. Previous record was by Mashrafe 44*(16), (S/R: 275) in 2006. " Yes, highest for a 30+ score, says our stat magician Sampath.

Ahid65 : "After a long time, BD is able to bat out 50 overs without being all out. In last 3 overs, it looks like Rishad was batting in a different pitch. Incredible hits!"

Ishaan: "Rishad might just prove to be the big hitting finisher that Ban have been looking for all along. Hope they work on his batting more "

Hosein to Rishad Hossain, 2 runs, In the airrrr... And Carty drops it at mid-off! Tossed up ball dances down the track and swings his bat at it, miscues the stroke, and skies it high towards mid-off. Carty tracks the ball under the fading sunlight and misjudges the flight of the ball, in the end fails to settle down underneath, and another chance goes begging.
