9:47pm A decent total for South Africa, one they can fight with. Pakistan were on the ball after asking them to bat. Afridi gave them the right start with two strikes in the opening over. South Africa were 42 for 4 and then 76 for 6. They appeared to be stuck against the pace-off deliveries. Add to it the variations from Tariq, the debutant.
Then came Ferreira, who really injected momentum to the innings. He adjusted to the variations and used his power to bat at a strike rate of 207.4. Once he fell, South Africa were in danger of getting shot out cheaply but Bosch ensured they got close to 140. The off-pace deliveries and cutters have been effective and Pakistan used it aplenty. Will South Africa take the same route? Find out shortly.
Usman Tariq: "This was because of my prep and processes right from club cricket. We had planned well for everything. Happy to get the result. When you play CPL and perform, that confidence helps you. When I came here, I felt that difference. Level of cricket in domestic and leagues is different. Allowed me to deliver without pressure. Because of the dew, should be an easy chase. Ball was coming onto the bat."
