10:29pm Right, that's all from us. See you for the ODI series which begins on Sunday!
10:26pm Player of the series is Harry Brook for 98 runs in two innings, 78 of which came in the second T20I at Hagley Oval. "Very frustrating, the weather hasn't been ideal. But great for the boys to get some time out there.
"It's a great place to tour, we've had an amazing time so far. We've got the ODIs coming up and we're looking forward to it. We've got a few big names coming back and hopefully we can keep that momentum in the next few weeks."
Not really all that much for Mitchell Santner to say given how little play has been had. But here he is: "I guess this time of the year it (rain) is always a potential. It's always nice to play England no matter what time of the year you play.
"The way we bowled in that first game, especially on a Hagley wicket that did give us a little bit. The second game, we were put under a lot of pressure on a good wicket, so when we come across that again, we'll have learnings from that."
10:11pm Match abandoned! That's all folks. For the match and this particular series. England take it 1-0, winning the only completed match of the three
10:01pm Here come the ground staff with the covers...
9:58pm "Trescothick (England assistant coach) having a word with one of the umpires and wiping his hand on the ground," reports Cameron Ponsonby. "Don't get the impression England particularly keen here."
Just like that, with both teams on the perimeter, the rain has returned. The three umpires don't look especially keen to get out there, either.
9:49pm NOW THEN! We have a 10pm restart, 8 overs-a-side!
Powerplay 2.2 overs, four bowlers can bowl a maximum of two overs.
9:48pm Covers off, even middle stump going in at each end. The problem remains the outfield. The drainage is great at Eden Park, but it'll take a lot longer to dry given the temperature has dropped
9:46pm Ed: "England are going to end up chasing 80 off 5..." At least that'll give us something!
john: "Can they make the ODIs, 20 over game now , starting at the same time. Might get a result"
9:39pm "It's tedious at this point but covers coming off again," our Cam Ponsonby, slowly losing the will...
9:30pm Some movement out there as the ground staff have started peeling off the covers... and now putting them back on as it has started raining again...
Craig: "Agree Justin, the last 2 series seem to have been squeezed in as warm ups for Aus and Eng, and perhaps that NZ hasn't played any meaningful cricket for so long too"
9:25pm Justin Dove: "These T20 matches played in October have been a complete disaster. A total waste of everyone's time and money from the international teams, broadcasters and fans. A bad advert for money over quality cricket. Nothing meaningful has been the outcome. Appalling. "
9:18pm Howdy folks - I come bearing good news. It's basically stopped raining in Auckland, but for the odd spit. The problem is the outfield, which is clearly soaked. "There's a little bit of work for the ground staff to do out here," says commentator and former White Fern Frances Mackay.
9.12pm: They are battening down the main cover on the pitch, though the expectation seems to be that it's just a passing shower. Think we've still got an hour or so to play with, if we're reduced to the minimum of five-overs-a-side. Time for Vish to don his wellies and step back in for a bit
9.09pm: Ach, and now the umpires have had enough. Off go the players, on come the covers again. Another squall as blown in, not heavy at the moment - but then the ground has already taken a fair bit
Raining again, it seems
END OF OVER:3 | 4 Runs | NZ: 25/1 | RR: 8.33
- Tim Seifert17 (10b)
- Rachin Ravindra3 (5b)
- Luke Wood2-0-13-0
- Brydon Carse1-0-12-1
Ryan: "Pretty sure ball 1.3 hit Harry Brook's cap that had fallen on the ground. Isn't that a penalty 5 runs?" It's not safety equipment, so I believe not
Wood again
Here's friend of the bbb, Dave Fern: "At Eden Park. Quite a few people left in that extended rain break, but those who stayed are being rewarded with some cricket!! Eventful over with a 6 and a wicket."
END OF OVER:2 | 12 Runs 1 Wkt | NZ: 21/1 | RR: 10.50

Brydon Carse from the other end
END OF OVER:1 | 9 Runs | NZ: 9/0 | RR: 9.00
- Tim Robinson0 (1b)
- Tim Seifert9 (5b)
- Luke Wood1-0-9-0
Jp: "Given it's only 3 balls in, will the target be adjusted by DLS ?" It will, I think. But presumably not by much
The powerplay will now be 4.1 overs
Here we go again. Good noise from those in the crowd as England retake the field, swiftly followed by Tims Seifert and Robinson. Wood limbering up after more than an hour between deliveries...
8.45pm: Play to restart at 8.50pm, we're down to 14-overs-a-side. Frankie Mackay has just provided an update from the middle: windy (which is probably a good thing), pitch unaffected, bit slippy around the outfield. Which will do us just fine, so long as the rain doesn't return
8.40pm: Ah, here we go. The umps have emerged for a look. England's players are going about their warm-ups, meanwhile
8.35pm: There are stumps in the ground, says Cam, and Jeetan Patel is back out to lead the England warm-ups. TV reporting that there will be an umpire inspection shortly
8.25pm: Positive news! The rain has stopped, and the covers are being peeled off. Might be a bit of mopping up to do, but we still have time - 10.12pm is the cut-off for a 5-over match, reports Cam Ponsonby
"First ever match at Eden Park. Bought ticket 1 hour before the game. 3 Balls into the game and boom. Summer is bright and sunny, they said." It might well be, Saurab Pokharel... but you're forgetting it's still spring
8pm: TV pictures briefly return and the scene looks grim. Rain swirling in the floodlights, and the few spectators still in situ clinging to their brollies. Fair to say you might want to get your kicks elsewhere, like Adelaide or Rawalpindi (although that one's almost over, too). There's also another spin-fest about to get going in Dhaka, if that's your thing
7.45pm: Cam says it's still coming down at Eden Park. I presume we have an hour or two to play with... although perhaps not, if a lake forms on the outfield
"At least you've got Summer to look forward to. Here, near Trent Bridge, it's hosing it down and it's mid-Autumn." Yes, Smiffy, that is the way the hemispheres work. Get out there and plant some bulbs
7.27pm: The big cover is being brought out for the pitch, which doesn't bode well. Neil Wagner has been giving a pitchside update for TV, and described conditions as "miserable". Cam Ponsonby, our man at the ground, adds: "It's chucking it down." Throw in the weather warning that has been issued for much of the country today, and prospects don't look great...
Andrew Evans: "2.30am in Massachusetts. Eng vs. NZ on the TV, Pak vs. SA on the laptop, India vs. Aus on the tablet, and Cricinfo on my phone. Contentment." And what else would you rather be doing at 2.30 in the morning in Massachusetts?
7.23pm: Rain already looks much lighter, but the fourth umpire is still resolutely clutching her umbrella. Could be another one of those evenings, I'm afraid
"I am laser focused on this game going ahead." That's the sort of feedback commitment we like to see, Chris. Postive Mental Attitude
7.18pm: Ugh, here comes the rain... The weather has closed in over the last half hour or so, and suddenly the drizzle thickens up, forcing the players off the field. The groundstaff aren't taking any chances, the pitch already covered with a nifty-looking rollout mat
Here's Debbie, voicing the thoughts of many: "Honestly, who thought it was a good idea to hold a cricket series in NZ in spring? *sigh*"
Right then. England are on the field, NZ's opening Tims (Seifert and Robinson) are also out in the middle. Luke Wood will take the new ball
7.14pm: Hello, hello. Let's get this rolling maul started... As his parting shot, Vish points out to me that the last (cricket) game here at Eden Park tallied 411 runs, with Pakistan chasing down 205 with four overs to spare!
7:10pm Dave Fern: "At the ground now. Crowd slowly building. Atmosphere building. Excitement building. Will Eden Park prove to be the proverbial impenetrable fortress that it's renowned for, or will England find a way to break in and pull off a heist?"
Geoff: "As it is going to rain later and NZ are batting first, should we treat this as the second half of the first game?" Not against this. Like sandwiches, one whole is better than two halves.
Right, here's Alan Gardner for the start of New Zealand's innings.
7:06pm Tonight is Phil Salt's 50th T20I cap by the way. Before heading out to New Zealand, Salt spoke to Matt Roller about his rich vein of form - which has extended with Monday's 85 - becoming a father and his analytical approach to whacking.
6:57pm Mustafa Moudi : "Dont know if anybody else have noticed this pattern or not, but England keeps under-performing in all, but one, bilateral series matches. But in the one game they click, they scores unbelievable runs in that match. They needs to be more consistent in White Ball !!"
Zorran : "I live in Auckland and have a ticket for the game. not going because it's meant to rain a lot in a couple hours." Eeek...
6:49pm England win the toss and bowl first! Having been asked to bat first in the first two games, Harry Brook finally calls correctly and has decided he fancies a chase: "Small ground here and bit of wind about so we're happy to have a bowl. The best sides can do both, but when you come to ground's like this and with our batting line-up we'd like to chase.
No changes for the tourists but there is one for the hosts, as Zak Foulkes replaces Kyle Jamieson.
England: 1 Phil Salt, 2 Jos Buttler (wk), 3 Jacob Bethell, 4 Harry Brook (capt), 5 Tom Banton, 6 Sam Curran, 7 Jordan Cox, 8 Brydon Carse, 9 Liam Dawson, 10 Adil Rashid, 11 Luke Wood
New Zealand: 1 Tim Seifert (wk), 2 Rachin Ravindra, 3 Tim Robinson, 4 Mark Chapman, 5 Daryl Mitchell, 6 Michael Bracewell, 7 James Neesham, 8 Mitchell Santner (capt), 9 Zak Foulkes, 10 Matt Henry, 11 Jacob Duffy
6:37pm Our man on the ground, Cameron Ponsonby, reports: "Weather is dry but horrible in Auckland. Grey, humid and very windy. A lot of the rest of country has a weather warning to not go outside atm.
"One change expected for NZ. Foulkes in for Jamieson is the guess. Nothing suggests major changes for England. Bethell been bowling a lot, Dawson hasn't. But then Sonny Baker hasn't either so who knows."
6:28pm Morning/afternoon/evening wherever you are in the world, and welcome to BBB coverage of the third and final match of this T20I series between New Zealand and England.
We have swapped Christchurch for Auckland but it seems the threat of weather has followed us to the very top of the north Island. The forecast isn't looking all that great, to be honest.
Still, we live in hope. As do the Blackcaps, who were soundly beaten by 65 runs on Monday and thus 1-0 down with one to play. England, after a patchy first go in the series opener, blitzed 236 courtesy of Phil Salt and skipper Harry Brook.
