Utpaldas: "@Eknath - What was the Logic behind giving Bowling to Prasiddh Krishna when Siraj and Axar both had plenty left ?" Look I'll level with you, tired and will be back after break. But it's a good question. Something that'll likely be asked at the presser, and maybe Sid Monga will write about it in his match analysis. Speaking of that, you can read his Hazlewood piece from the last game. It's made for nuffies. We'll be back around 6:25pm local.

mohit has a different viewpoint: "I am surprised Sharma/Kohli didn't counsel Gill on depth bowling and push for Siraj. very strange decision by Gill."

GEORGE: "funny part is that the best of the lot could not bowl their full quota of overs..." Yeah, a case of hindsight genius

Rahul: "If Harshit can do a decent job with the bat at no.8, this team looks settled with just 1 change Bumrah replacing prasidh krishna. "

Udayan: "Has Cricinfo ever thought of putting a countdown timer between innings for followers to know when the next innings is going to start?" Nice idea, will pass on. Thanks

From an Australia pov, Head and Marsh looked delightful. Perfect for admirers of free-flowing strokeplay must have had fun. As would lovers of aesthetically pleasing batting with Renshaw's 56. Short's 30 is good, but is kind of a noticeable miss for a No. 3. The first four wickets were against the run of play. Then India's bowlers came into their own and the batters fell away.

5:57pm India walk back. Few smiles, content looks going about. You'd imagine they'd be the happier side. All of Australia's top-six got starts, but the highest score was Renshaw's 56, kinda tells the story. The SCG pitch has offered lots of bounce, some sideways too, for both pacers and spin. That didn't convert to early wickets. Siraj was good. Harshit wasn't as threatening but made up for it later to finish with four poles. Prasidh was similar to Harshit, they're similar that way - middle-overs bowlers. where consistency needs to be sacrificed for variety. Kuldeep was classic Kuldeep. Don't read too much into the figures, I'd say. He was consistent. Axar had the cheapest figures, Washington arguably the best overall. Shreyas took a difficult catch and was in pain. Varun Aaron, on air, says no news confirmed on Shreyas yet.

bhavya : "You were saying Glenn!"

Harshit Rana to Hazlewood, OUT, India bowl Australia out with 3.2 overs left. Off-stump rattled and Harshit pumps his fists, 'points towards cover (likely at a team-mate) and charges forward intensely in celebration. Hazlewood could do little about that yorker, especially after backing away. His stance was open, he tried to jam bat over ball. Wanted to guide it through third. Misses

Prasidh Krishna to Connolly, FOUR, Prasidh attempts a variation, idea's right, but that full cutter was both too full and too straight. Most importantly, too slow... Connolly cashes in by closing his stance, and whipping it fine

Prasidh Krishna to Connolly, 1 wide, Bumper outside off. Connolly winds down before rising, knowing it's too wide and too high
