3:25pm Zimbabwe's lowest total in Tests since April and second lowest this year. This has been a performance to forget especially after Ervine said at the toss that he wanted the batters to put up runs on the board. The only notable resistance from the home side batters came through Ervine himself and Tsiga, both of whom where the only one to score in the thirties. New Zealand were incisive with the ball, none more so than Henry, who kept asking the right questions. He varied his lines and lengths and kept the batters on their toes. Pure disciplined bowling, and he gets his reward in the form of a six-for.
A tough ask for the Zimbabwe bowlers now to keep the New Zealand batters in check. Conditions look good for batting and it is an opportunity floundered by their batters. The only positive, if they are searching for one, is that New Zealand last played Test match cricket in December 2024. A small chance, then, that the batters could turn up rusty. Do NZ do that, though? Find out shortly.
