12:55pm A bits-and-pieces innings, which, to a large extent, was salvaged by a stellar eighth-wicket partnership between Mahmudullah and Tanzim. They came together when Bangladesh were tottering and ensured that they got past 200. Neither, though, could bat through the innings, meaning that Bangladesh ultimately fell well short of the 250-mark, which when these two were going all guns blazing, seemed a real possibility. Tanzid was the other notable contributor with the bat for the visitors.
As for the hosts, they will be pleased with their efforts. Seales set it up with a sensational powerplay display and returned to remove Mahmudullah. Motie did his bit through the middle overs, with each of their bowlers getting themselves on the board. The hosts will feel they can chase this down comfortably, but Bangladesh, because they have 225-plus on the board, might feel they could ruffle a few feathers with early wickets. Join us in a bit for the chase!
Gudakesh Motie: (On his bowling) It was pretty good for me. Was trying to hit my length and trying to take the pace off. (On the pitch) It was kind of two-paced, so was trying to take pace off and it worked for me. Previously, I was bowling too fast. Thanks to James, our bowling coach, we have been working on it (changing the pace and slowing it up). 300 is a par score (here), getting them out under 300…we need a good start from our openers and hopefully we can take it from there.
